The steps creaked as they carefully put their weight on them.  Lydia held Peter's hand as she led them up the stairs in the dark.

"We have to be quiet," she whispered to him.

"Why?  I thought you said she was out for the night," he whispered back.

"Well, I thought she was going to be.  Apparently not."

They reached the top of the stairs and went into her room.  Lydia closed the door slowly and let out a breath after she heard the faint click of the latch.

Peter took off his shoes and laid down on her bed.  "There won't be any hormonal boys trying to climb through your window again will there?"

"No," she sat down next to him, "I'm done with high school boys."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah, I've got my eyes on a real man.  Well, technically, half man."  She smiled at him.

He laughed silently, "that almost makes my masculinity vanish."

"Well," she rubbed his arm, "I'm sure it's still there."

He pulled her into him and rolled them over so that he was on top.  "You're going to be the end to my pride."

She lightly kissed him.  "And your ego."

"My ego?"

"Yes, we could do without most of that."

"I thought you loved me just the way I am," he said jokingly.

"I never said that," she giggled and playfully pushed him off of her.

"Shh.." He held up his hand and turned his head to listen.  "I thought I heard your mother stir."

Lydia turned her bedside lamp on and got up.  "Let's just go to bed," she said as she turned the room's main light off.

Peter climbed under the blankets and wrapped his arms around her as she got in too.

"Goodnight, Beautiful," he kissed the top of her head.

She turned the bedside light off.

"Goodnight, my wolf."
