Extreme winter days like today were always spent around the fire in the Gryffindor common room next to your three best friends, Ron, Harry and Hermione. The Weasley twins had managed to smuggle some butter beer from Filch's office, sharing it amongst your group.
"I can't wait for the Yule Ball!" Hermione cheered, smiling ear to ear and taking a sip of the warm beverage.
"Me too, I'm in love with my dress" You replied thinking back to how well the long light pink dress fit you, showing off your curves in the right places.
"Do you guys have dates?" Ron asked, glancing at everyone.
"I thought going solo would be fine, all the guys here are just not up to my liking" You answered and although you weren't lying, the selection of boys wasn't the main reason you were going solo. The reality of it all was that you were taken by none other than Hermione Granger. You two had been secretly dating for the last couple of months, both agreeing to keep everything under wraps and see if what you two had was genuine. You knew deep down you guys loved each other which is why you both decided to not get dates for the ball. It'd cause both of you to be jealous the whole night to see one another with other people so ultimately no one will enjoy their night.
"I'm a bit offended" remarked Ron, earning an eye roll from Hermione.
"Guess you're staying offended because I agree with (Y/n), hence why I don't have a date either" Hermione scoffed, giving me a quick little smirk.
"Liar, I know you like Viktor Krum" Harry said as Ron leaned in, placing his chin on his hand trying to lean in for the gossip that was unfolding.
"What makes you think that?" Hermione questioned, shifting in her seat uncomfortably as your eyebrows raised towards her. The information was knew to you.
"Last time we went to a Quidditch game of his you could not take your eyes off of him and I've seen you guys talk before, blushing like weirdos. Plus rumors are speculating he is gonna ask you to the ball soon" Harry couldn't help but smirk as Ron snickered.
"THE Viktor Krum liking 'Mione? I guess everything really is possible" Ron retorted earning a glare from you and Hermione.
"Yeah except for a girl liking you" You retorted slightly offended at the remark towards your girlfriend. You didn't even care that much about Ron's antics, your mind was focused on Viktor asking your girlfriend. Would she say yes? Did she really like him and you were just reading every sign wrong? I mean surely she would've broken up with you if she didn't have feelings? All of these thoughts were swirling around in your mind while Hermione fought for your attention.
"Are you alright (Y/n)" She asked, you could tell her eyes were looking for any sign of anger but you looked away towards the floor, not sure as to what you were feeling.
"Sorry, was just thinking. So, uhm, if Krum does ask you what are you gonna say?" You asked, clearing your throat after as you were growing more and more uncomfortable.
"Oh bloody hell, obviously she's gonna say yes. She'd be a git not to" Ron replied as Hermione opened her mouth to speak but closed it at a loss for words.
"'Mione?" You asked, voice growing soft.
"Uhm, I mean whats the harm in going if he does ask? How often do you get asked to attend a ball with Viktor Krum?" Hermione couldn't bring herself to look at your mouth which was left hanging open, instead she looked over at the guys knowing the idea was not sitting right with you.
