The smell of coffee and freshly baked pastries hit my nose as I opened the door to my favorite coffee shop. Seeing that it was just a walkable distance from my college, the mustard-colored chairs were almost always filled with students.
It was crowded. It always was by this time. Like majority of the students filling the seats, I had a free period. It was convenient to spend it here.
The coffee shop was pretty, it had a retro vibe. It was warm and never stuffy.
I scanned above heads, trying to find Nicole. I spot her abundant blonde hair almost immediately. She was sitting by a window bent over, rummaging through her lilac purse.
I made my way over to her, almost bumping into two distracted people in the process . She had piled her books on one chair trying to save a seat for me. I moved her books and put them on the table instead, sitting down.
She looked up from her purse, noticing my presence.
"Ahhh there you are. I was just about to call you" she informed. "I just can't seem to find my phone" she mumbled continuing her hunt. She looked frustrated. Not having the patience any longer, she turned her purse upside down emptying it's contents on the table. Makeup compact, tissues, Breath freshener, hand sanitizer, Aquaphor, a phone charger and more items spilled out of the purse. How she managed to fit all those in was beyond me.
"There it is" she said holding up her IPhone in triumph before stuffing the items littering the table top back into her bag. Talk about being disorganized.
"I ran into Harvey" I inform her before I took a bite from my blueberry muffins. My eyes lit up, these were heavenly.
She scowled at me "and why are you telling me this?"
I looked at her in amusement "I mean, he is your boyfriend""Was" she corrected. I waved her off.
"Anyways, he said you should answer his calls so he can apologize properly".
She gave me a dirty look.
"You're my best friend, you're meant to be on my side"she accused.
I laughed "I'm not on any sides, I'm just trying to pass a message. He just looked so sorry and pitiful, I'd feel guilty if I didn't tell you "
She beamed "Really?" I rolled my eyes. "Let him suffer just a little bit more"
"That's not nice. You're not nice"
"He deserves it" she said waving me off.
She scrolled through her phone for a few seconds before looking up at me, she was literately bubbling with excitement. "Guess what I saw today!"
She didn't wait for me to guess, not that I would have attempted to anyway. "I saw the sexiest boys walking the surface of the earth today. I don't know what I did to deserve such a blessing" she said with an exaggerated dreamyness. I rolled my eyes. What is wrong with this girl?
"You say that everyday" I deadpanned. She literally sees a 'sexy boy' at least once a week.
"Well this is different." She said, crossing her hands and pouting.
