*GUNSHOT*
"Daddy?" Skylar exclaimed.
"I'm right here baby!" Bobby replied, "go find your brother for me!."
"He's downstairs grabbing the gun lies you told him," she yells back, "what's going on?"
"Nothing honey, just another creeper, it's ok, daddy's gonna keep you safe, I promise, but you need to tell James we have to leave, now!"
"Ok I'll get my knife and shoes," Skylar exclaimed, her breath shaking with fear.
Bobby pulled out his phone, his head spinning and confused, his nose distracted by the scent of fresh blood and flowers. He managed to dial the number of his best friend, Derek.
He waits with growing impatience as the phone rings, until finally it's picked up.
"What the hell is going on?" Derek asks.
"How the hell am I supposed to know?" Bobby snarks back, "I need you and Jackie to get over here as soon as you can, okay?"
"Yeah we'll head over now," Derek replies calmly.
"And Derek?"
"Yeah?"
"Bring your gun," Bobby asserts as he hangs up the phone.
He drifts inside, locking the sliding back door behind him. Then rushes downstairs to find his kids grabbing all the weapons and supplies they can, disgusted at the fact his innocent, seven year old daughter is grabbing knives, completely aware what she must do with them. He knows that she knows, she has to kill.
"Here, Sky, gimme those," Bobby says as he reaches out his hand.
Skylar sighs as she hands the knife to her father, "I can handle it, okay?"
"This is not up for negotiation Sky, okay?"
"Fine," she replies softly.
"It's okay Sky, Jamie and Derek will be over here soon," James says compassionately, "right dad?"
"Yeah, they will, I just called them," Bobby says back. "But we need to be ready to leave as soon as they do."
"Got it," James and Sky respond.
"You two head upstairs, and start packing your things," he says, staring into their eyes. "Never leave your sister's side, Jay, understand?"
"Yeah, I promise dad."
"Good, stay safe," as he hesitantly hands Skylar a knife. "Take good care of this Sky."
She smiles, scared to leave her fathers side. She runs upstairs, right behind her brother. Bobby watches her long, blonde hair bounce as she runs up the stairs. "She definitely got her looks from her mom," he murmurs to himself, uttering a quick laugh. He then proceeded to clear out all of the drawers around his bed, scavenging for any spare rounds, anything sharp enough to protect himself with. Then he walks upstairs, turning to take one last look at his bedroom, a last glance at the over sized bed, allowing the sweet memories to fill his mind. Thoughts of Maria, of a happy family, prosperity. He then walks back down to his dresser, and grabs one last thing.Meanwhile, upstairs, James and Skylar are clearing out the kitchen, stuffing as much food and drinks they can fit in their three backpacks.
"I'm gonna go get my soda stash from the tree house," Skylar says.
"No, wait here, you know what dad said, we have to stick together," James commands.
"It's okay I'll be back in a sec," she yells as she slides the back door closed.
"Wait!" He yells back. "Sky?!"
*SHRIEK*
"SKYLAR!" James yells as he dashes for the door. He looks through the plain glass window, and sees his biggest fear. A creeper headed right towards her sister, frozen with her knife pulled.
"SKY?!" He screams helplessly, as the creeper lunges right at his sister.
