*THE PREVIOUS MORNING*
"Okay, Sky, here's the plan," James said, capturing the attention of his little sister, "you go around to the back and come in, then I'll bust through the front, got it?"
"Okay," Sky said excitedly, "why can't we both go through the front?"
"We need one of us to sneak up on him, trust me, he won't expect it," James whispered.
"Okay," and with a smile on her face, she quickly ran around to the back door of the room. "Three, two, one, go!" she whispered to herself, then opened up the door. She saw James run right at him too as they jumped on top of him.
"Aha! I'm gonna get you now! "He screamed back as he swung a pillow at James' face. "And you, missy, definitely got your looks from your momma," he laughed.
"Nuh uh, it's all from you daddy," Sky laughed back.
"Whether you like it or not, baby, the hair, face, personality," he smiled as he ran his fingers through her long, curly brown hair. He looked down, silent. Even just the mention of his ex-wife, Maria, was enough to make him depressed again. "Give me a minute Sky," he said with pain in his voice, "daddy's havin one of his days again."
"I don't like it when you're sad dad," sky cried, "why can't you be happy anymore?"
"Let's get out for minute Sky," James said as he walked her out of the room. He glared back at his father with a pitiful look in his eyes. Bobby felt the hatred from his son. He felt it everyday. It ruled over his life, controlling him, saddening him, pushing him closer everyday to suicide. But then he sees her face, hears her voice. Sky was js it that for him, his last ray of hope in his sorrows.
"Thanks son, I'll be up soon," Bobby replied.
"Yeah, sure you will," he said back, holding back his tears. He slammed the door behind him.
Bobby got up slowly. He put on his undershirt. Then his over shirt, his black suit jacket, then his tie. A fresh pair of underwear, and black slacks. He looked no different than any other lawyer, a typical suit and tie. Except the tie, that was his own touch. A different color everyday, a dark blue today.
*KNOCK*
"Come on in," Bobby yelled."Hey dad," James said, "feeling better?"
"Yeah, a little bit. I'm gonna have to be today."
"Against mom again?" James asked.
"Yeah."
"She trying to take us back again?" James asked in a worried tone.
"Trying to, yes," He replied back, the pain evident in his voice again.
"That bitch," James angrily muttered.
"Watch your mouth Jay," Bobby commanded.
"It's true, dad. She can't just let us stay here. She just thinks we'll like it better with Ray, in his stupid mansion. He doesn't even pretend to care about us. He's even more of an asshole then mom"
"What'd I say about watching your language?"
"Fine," James said. "I'm ready for school, same with Sky."
"Homework done?"
"Yep"
"Teeth brushed?"
"Yep"
"Alright, I'll see you after school." Bobby said.
*SIX HOURS LATER*
Bobby's driving home in his Bentley, another way he likes to show his wealth. That's who he was on the outside, a great, successful lawyer with two wonderful kids.
That's who he had to be to his friends, his co workers, strangers, even.
