Amity's POV
Come on, Ed, let's go play outside. I say opening the back. We headed to the creek to goof around. Emira couldn't come because she got sick with demon pox...again.
She asked us to look out for each other. It was a no brainer because I was the youngest but smart out of Ed and I.

The breeze was warmer than usual but it wasn't overwhelmingly bad. "Let's play tag...your it!" Ed says poking my shoulder as he ran off.
"Hey, get back here!." I say giggling as I ran after him. "Ed?...Ed." I called out his name but no answer. I looked around the wooded area until I heard a noise from a nearby tree. I slowly walked over to it and it sounded like an animal of sort. I realized what it was, It was a kitten. It was tiny and had black fur all over it's body but had a white patch on it's chest. The kitten looked scared like something was after it. I crouched down under the tree's twisted stump and I tried to get a little closer to the kitten. But he hissed at me and made jump back. " It's ok...won't hurt you. I'm a friend." I say trying to calm him down. I was 9 so I didn't know any better.

"Come on..." I muttered a little annoyed at but reasonable with the kitten. Luckily I had a little bit of pig-goat meat leftover from last night. I crouched down and held out my hand. The kitten slowly walked over to me and took the food from my hand.
I slowly stood up and walked out of the stump. The kitten began to meow for more food.
"You want more?" I asked as the kitten was trying to climb into my jacket pocket. "Hey, get out of there." I say laughing lightly as he was looking through my pocket. "Amity?...you stopped playing." Ed says as he came out from the trees. "I got distracted.." I say nervously. " I'm sorry. Ed, An animal was stuck in a stump over here." I say pointing to the tree. " A kitten was stuck. The kitten meowed at her feet. I smiled at the tiny animal as he rubbed his head against her hand. I don't know about taking the kitten home, Mittens. Ed says sounding a little nervous or unsure about the decision his younger sister made. "It cannot be that bad." I says crouched down petting the tiny creature. I picked him up and carried him to the mansion with Ed following behind.
Once we got home, Ed snuck me upstairs with the kitten so our parents wouldn't see us.

Later

I awoke to the sound of tapping at my window. I slowly got up out of bed and walked over to it. I saw the kitten I save earlier today. It looked like it was going to rain but (it was acid- just to remind) So I quickly opened the window and grabbed him. "Hi, little one. You want me to give you scratches?" I asked the kitten staring up at me. He meowed softly as started to scratch his head. I carried him over to my bed and he pounced on my lap onto his back. He purred as I scratched his cheek. "You like that don't you?" I say giggling softly. The kitten snuggled into my lap as I rubbed his chest.
"Amity? Who are you talking too?" A voice says through the locked door of my room. My mother kicked it down and yelled. "WHAT DID WE DISCUSS ABOUT HAVING ANIMALS IN THIS HOUSE?!" "I'm sorry I didn't know." I say feeling awful inside because I couldn't show weakness.  I held the kitten close to my chest before my mother grabbed him off me and she throw him out of the two story window and into the acid rains. Days after that I hoped my kitten was alright and he wasn't hurt or worse.

Present Day

3rd person POV
The cat has burn scars from the rains years later. Happy to be back with his friend and comforting her with she needs it. Amity rested her head on Luz's shoulder with her cat in her lap, scratching behind his ears and listening to him purr. Which eventually made her fell asleep still scratching his head and with Luz's arm around her. "Good kitty." She says beginning to drift off herself.
