I appreciated Dom's little talk. It felt good to blow off some steam. He was more focused than me & got my car tuned right. I had bought a little Jaguar E-type. After the go-kart incident, I needed something fast & agile. He wasn't getting rid of me that easily.
Everyone was working well. Tej got access to the live feed of CCTV when Riley & Hobbs came back. brian's departure was a solemn moment. The shenanigans were kept light until Rome got trigger happy.
He narrowly missed harpooning Dom by a few inches. Giselle & I quickly came over to scold him. He tried to shift blame by throwing the gun back into Tej's hands.
"Rome! I swear I'm about to baby proof this whole place." I groaned as I punched his arm
"Damn, easy up on those punches girl. I'm sorry ok." Rome surrendered as he rubbed his arm
"You're not the only one who needs to be watched." Hobbs added as he tightly gripped a manila folder
"Shouldn't you be at a desk?" I teased as I sized him up. His gaze was set on me & his posture was rigid.
"I got my desk work done. Even found a nice little lead." He hinted
"Stop playing games. What's in the folder?" Dom glared
"Your baby sister knows our bad boy very intimately." Hobbs said as he trusted the folder into his chest
"She thought she could hide their little Moroccan vacation from me. For a member of the demo unit, I thought you'd be smarter than that. Pretty rookie mistake." He continued
"But, their romantic meetups go back even farther. Their discharge dates only vary by months before running a nice criminal web together. But, he runs their little outfit now." Riley smirked
"But, they're never apart for long. Two little lovesick puppies that follow each other around. He even took time off in Brazil around your heist. That's one hell of a coincidence." He glared
"The Owen from Brazil is the one we're hunting?" Giselle asked
"Yes. I didn't know how to tell you all. With Letty, this was complicated enough. I didn't want to drag in my own problems too." I explained
"Funny how you both are here. Miraculously, I can't catch him worth a damn. You're a very good luck charm for him." Hobbs insinuated
"I'm not a fucking mole! I chased after him the 1st night. He threw you off his car to get me to back off or else I would have had him." I growled
"I don't care. Your personal history with him raises a lot of concerns. I ain't losing him now because I went soft on his girlfriend." Hobbs glared
"Riley, take her into custody." He ordered
She smiled as she got up. I squared up to fight but she didn't get far. Tej cuffed her to a leg while Giselle covered me. Rome & Han moved into the middle for standby. Dom blocked Hobbs from getting to Riley.
"She hasn't committed a crime. You ain't taking her in." Dom challenged
"You still want that pardon? You better back off now, Dom." He glared
"She's family. If she said she didn't do it, she didn't. With everything that's been going on, it'd be hard to sneak messages." Dom defended me
"You still want proof. Cassie give me your phone." He ordered
I grabbed my phone & passed it to Han. Dom grabbed it & handed it to Hobbs. It was already unlocked so he could read through my messages & e-mails. We stood at a standstill for an hour as he read through every recent message.
