Cassie P.O.V

The car ride was uncomfortable to say the least. Neither of us spoke as he drove to a faraway dead spot. What words could you say when your girlfriend points a gun to your head? I suppose it would be the same apology for placing a sniper on my brother. This whole situation was new ground for us. We had never been so far away from us or on such polar opposite sides. If we didn't break up now, it would be a miracle.

He pulled into a tunnel & kept the engine running. But, he led me down a series of tunnels to a dead end. He moved some boxes around to reveal a door which he unlocked.

"You want me to go first into a dark room?" I questioned as I crossed my arms

"I wouldn't kill you. You can trust me that much." He argued

"If it makes you feel better, we can go in together. Though, it'll be a tight squeeze." He suggested as he held a hand out

"Don't get handsy. I still have my gun." I warned as I grabbed his hand

"Then stop tempting me." He grinned as he pulled me into his chest

I held onto him as he carried me into the room. He set me down in the center before turning on the light. It was a small stockroom with crates for a makeshift bench. I eyed the ground for rats & didn't see any.

"I laid out traps. I remembered how terrified you are of rodents & insects." he said

"Well, thanks. But, it doesn't attone for the hell you've put me under lately." I argued

"Could you let me explain?" He begged

"You think. I'm owed that much." I agreed

"I got mixed up with people outside of my normal clientele." He cryptically said

"No kidding." I interrupted

"Can I finish?" He groaned

"Sorry but you can't expect me to not jump on every word. This is more carnage than you normally cause." I huffed

"I know! I wouldn't have done any of this if I had a choice." He yelled

"Jesus, who the hell did you piss off this time?! You're always so careful." I worried

"Who knows the Internet in & out. So well that they can strike whenever & whomever they want." He hinted

"No. No, you fucking idiot!" I cried as I wailed on his chest

"She had leverage." He mumbled

"You could've told me. We could've thought of something." I cried

"She knew where you were. She already had people close by if I refused any of the jobs. You know what would've happened if I tried to tell you." He explained

"Why couldn't that nightshade device be for literally anyone else." I groaned

"Are we safe here?" I asked as I looked around more

"Yes. I muffled this room like crazy. I wouldn't of shared any of this if I wasn't sure she couldn't hear." He assured me

"Thats what you did after Rio. That was your big job." I pieced together

"Yes. As a reward for a good job, she gave me more leeway in planning. I couldn't of watched you without gaining some trust first." He shared

"She was going to kill me in Morocco? You stuck around to protect me for as long as she let you." I figured out

"Something worse." He shuddered

"I'm not going back. She can't make me." I stuttered. He quickly hugged me & held me tight.
