I look at Charley's face and see she blames herself for what happened to Annae, I sigh and look over the water. It wasn't her fault, if only Annae had told people about what was happening at home, then she wouldn't be in hospital. Believe me, I wasn't blaming her for this, she was trying to protect her brother and her mum at the same time. But why she wanted to protect that fool was totally beyond me. I would have gave her ass up to the police years ago, but this was Annae we were talking about.
Even though I'm two years older than her, we had always been close and then she just suddenly stopped talking to me. I glance at Charley and give her a small smile of reassurance, but I could tell that she still blamed herself.
"It isn't your fault, you didn't know and I suspect that the rest of your friends blame themselves as well." I say to her, she turns her head in my direction and gives me a small smile.
"I know I shouldn't blame myself, but she's been my best friend since year 7, nearly 3 years and I never thought of what it was like for her at home." She taps her cheek with her index finger and yawns, tired much.
I pull my car keys out of my pocket and turn towards my Toyota. "Come on, I'll take you back to the hospital."
She nods and we set off back the way we came.

Annae's friends were supportive, they wanted to know all about her condition and if she was going to be alright. Of course, because they weren't family the doctors couldn't reveal much to them and as far as we knew Annae was still in a coma.
The doctors said there wasn't any lasting damage, but she wouldn't be able to run or do any walking for a long time. The damage to her lung was severe and she was hooked up to a respirator, but they managed to patch it up and she could be able to breathe on her own in about 3 days.
But they didn't know when she was going to wake up, she had been asleep for 2 days already and her condition was gradually returning back to normal. But she just wouldn't wake up, Grandmia said she would visit again later to check on her and would bring Jack. At least I would see a familiar face, mum had gone home half an hour ago and Annae's friends parents were going to pick them up later.
But one of them was missing, as was my brother. The little brown haired one, with the green eyes was the one that was missing and I suspected that Niall had taken her for a drive.
Annae's friends left and then Niall came into the hallway with Charley following at his heals, I glance between the two of them and shake my head. "Go in and see her, your mums waiting outside," I tell Charley, she nods and walks into Annae's hospital room.
I turn to Niall and cross my arms over my chest, he glares. "What?"
"Leave Annae's friends alone," is all I say.
Niall shakes his head and sits down on one of the blue plastic chairs.
1 day later
Annae/Hannah
I glanced around and groan, where the hell was i? All the houses were green with pink window, the sky was purple and the trees were bright yellow. What the hell was this place?
I glance around and spot someone coming towards me from the distance, was that? Georgia? Oh, God Georgia had turned into a smurf and now she was grinning at me. Not one of those cute grins that show dimples, it was one of those full on pervy grins.
She stops in front of me and looks up, yes she had to look up at me. Normally it's the other way around, I look up at everyone else. I'm not the smallest person in the world, but most year 8's are taller than me and I'm year 10.
"Salutations, welcome to Dimwahay." She smiles up at me and I burst out laughing. "What's so funny?" She asked me, her voice full of innocence.
Well that only made me laugh harder, her voice was so high it could crack glass. She sounded like a guy who had just been hit, you know where. Just worse, I feel tears fall down my cheeks and drop to the floor holding my ribs.
"STOP LAUGHING, IT ISN'T FUNNY," she screamed and of course I keep laughing.
"Just...stop...talking." I said between sobs, sobs of complete and utter happiness. I had never laughed so hard in all my life.
"I can't, you need to listen to me. You can't die yet, you need to hold on, people need you and you just can't leave them." She stated, her high pitched voice making it really hard for me to take her seriously.
I feel something pill my body and all of a sudden I hear normal voices, the voices of my friends and my family. Except of course my mother, she wouldn't visit me, she hated me.
"She looks so peaceful, I hope she isn't in any pain." I hear Jack's voice, what the hell was he doing here?
"Doctor said she wasn't," that was Kellan.
"Then why hasn't she woken up yet?" Charley.
I glance around and find the room had gone completely black, smurf Georgia was nowhere to be seen.
"She will." OMG Niall, he was here as well? I hadn't seen him in ages!
"She better, her birthday is in a couple of weeks." And that was Grandmia, at least she hadn't changed.
I slowly open my eyes and quickly shut them again, blinding white light keeping me from opening them further than a squint. I see Jack and Grandmia standing over me, Niall and Kellan on the other side of the bed. Eva, Charley, Belle, Kelsey and Kenna standing at the foot of the bed, all eyes were on me as my own started to open wider.
Georgia stood in the doorway, this of course made me remember smurf Georgia and I started laughing again. Everyone looked at me as if I was mad, they're not far off. I point at Georgia and hold my aching ribs, all of a sudden I double over coughing. Holding my chest and fighting the panic that was rising in my throat. Goddamn it, I forgot that I had been beaten for just a couple of minutes.
A doctor rushes into the room and injects something into my arm, I could feel the cold liquid moving through my veins. "Thanks," I croak, I put a hand to my throat and cough. Grandmia hands me a glass of water and I smile at her. She smiles back and strokes my hair lightly, her eyes growing a bit softer.
"I thought I was going to lose you," she whispers, I stare at her wide eyed and then grin.
"Missed you, too." I choke out, I feel as if my throat was closing up.
The doctor looks at the crowded room and tells everyone that visiting hours were over and that I needed my rest. Everyone says goodbye and Grandmia kisses my cheek, as does Jack. Kellan hesitates in the doorway and then walks out with Niall at his side.
Georgia walks over to my bedside and glances down at me. "You're going to be fine, baby girl, you just need to take better care of yourself." She smiles and I smile up at her, she was like a mother to me. Always taking care of me, I told her everything, except maybe not everything, but most things and she told me most things as well. It was a special kind of friendship, like mother-daughter kinda thing.
"I know." I reply, she smiles again and then says her goodbyes.
She disappears out the door and I sigh, sliding down in the bed and fall asleep.
