Be Mine

When 8 o'clock rolled around, the doorbell rang. I was so nervous I could hardly stand it. Aunt Jessy opened to door with a big smile to a dressed up boy with a bouquet of white roses, my favorite. I looked back at the mirror one last time before I walked towards the door. Jordan's jaw dropped when he saw me, and I could do was blush and look away. Aunt Jessy hugged me with tears in her eyes. "Aunt Jessy," I whispered to her, "thank you" I smiled, looking into her eyes before I took Jordan's hand. "Oh and we're staying at my house Aunt Jessy. If momma calls you let her know I'm alright." She nodded and closed the door.

There was a black limo parked out front, a man stood by the door holding it open. "You did all this" I asked in disbelief.

Jordan grinned. "Anything for princess, you know."

And there I was blushing again. God, what was I going to do with this boy?

The car ride was easy. We laughed, joked around with each other, we smiled. He would tease me as if it were just an average night. Not the night where I met some of the most important people I'd ever heard of, or the night where I met his family. I was anxious, scared, but Jordan seemed to easily make my feelings melt away, replaced with the fluttering butterflies welling up inside my heart. He seemed to smile more each time I laughed, he seemed to watch my mouth form the words as I told him something, he seemed to pay attention to every little detail of me as we sat in the back seat of the limousine. His hand was warm on my knee, his arm around my waist, holding me close to him as we talked. But I didn't mind. I loved being close to him; just the way he made me feel.

I almost didn't notice the giant mansion as we pulled into the long driveway. My jaw dropped when I looked out the window. It was the biggest house I'd ever seen. A massive Greek fountain was in the center of the circular drive way. The water danced, sparkling, as it fell into the pool beneath it. There were Shrubs and trees trimmed into various animals. And the orchard on the east side of the mansion was beautiful, filled with beautiful rose bushes of all colors. I must have been gawking, because Jordan chuckled and grabbed my chin with his hand bringing my face back to his. I smiled sheepishly. He kissed me quickly and then his chauffeur opened the door for us to get out.

I stepped out to hear music softly playing, Beethoven was my guess. Jordan grabbed my hand pulling me with him towards the front door. There were huge pillars at the top of the long staircase, with vines of morning glory cascading down. It was hard to believe how big the house was. The front doors were open, revealing a grand ball room, with people gliding smoothly across the floor. The air was thick with the scent of gourmet food and the cling of perfume and cologne.

I looked over at Jordan nervously; his relaxed expression did nothing to ease the ache in the pit of my stomach. My heart was beating loud in my ear; I could hardly hear the music playing in the background.

I held onto Jordan's hand as he moved us deeper into the crowd, mumbling a sorry each time I bumped into someone else. He hadn't said a word to me since we were in the limousine. He didn't speak as we moved through the crowd of people to where I was guessing his family was. I looked down at my own dress, seeing that everyone else had worn long elegant ball gowns.

"Jordan, where are we going? You didn't tell me that I needed to wear a ball gown," I said, looking at him with a frown. He stopped in front of a table with people sitting around talking.

He let go of my hand and bent down to whisper into a man with grey and black hair. I was guessing it was his uncle.

Jordan stood up and looked at the Blonde woman who was talking. "Mom, dad, this is Audrey." He looked at me and smiled.

Everyone stopped talking and looked at us. I leaned into Jordan and forced a smile.

"Hello, I'm Audrey Stephens" his mom held my gaze and smiled.
