Chapter 5: The new recruit

After waiting a bit, I saw the kid arrive through the manhole and stood there. "So, you've decided to come." Marie said to him. "Um who are you?" The kid asked Marie then looked at me. "Wait aren't you-?" He started to ask. "I'm agent 7. If I look like someone you know, I am not." I told the kid.

Gilbur's Point of View

Is he messing with me or is he actually someone different? I swear that kid is Michael from the presentation today. Then again, there could be another squid with the same hairstyle and eye color as him. I looked back at the woman who was staring at me in the square.

"I'm sure you've heard about the Great Zapfish being taken. Well, the Octarians are the ones who took it. I'm Marie from the Squid Sisters or agent 2 in the New Squidbeak splatoon." She told me. I was trying to fully grasp everything at once. "We're looking for a new agent to help out. What do you say on joining?" The kid who looked like Michael but called himself agent 7 said.

I wasn't able to give an answer immediately and stayed silent. "I'll take that stunned silence as a yes. Agent 7, could you please hand him his new outfit?" Marie said. I wanted to say something but Agent 7 walked over to me with the outfit. "Put it on." He told me and I did.

Michael's Point of View

The kid put the outfit on while I was getting his weapon. I looked at the weapon and saw it was changed. "Hm. This'll do I guess." I said and handed it to agent 4. "Here's your weapon agent 4." I said to the kid. He just looked at it. "You'll get used to it. Trust me." I said giving agent 4 a pat on the back. He just looked at the weapon. "You know how to use a weapon right?" I asked.

Agent 4 nodded his head and began to walk around the area. I smiled as it reminded me of when I first joined way back when. Marie explained how he needed to find kettles. After she explained everything, agent 4 found a kettle and hopped into it.

I was still smiling and Marie looked at me. "What are you smiling at?" She asked me in a somewhat teasing tone. "Just remembering when I first joined." I answered back. Marie giggled at that. "I remember that day too." She said. "Well, I hate to leave, but I need to get going. I'll help as much as I can." I said to Marie. She nodded. "See you Michael." She replied and I went back to the Square.

I returned to the square and headed to work. I entered the shop and saw some inklings there trying to get some of the new weapons. I quickly got to the back to help get more weapons on the shelf when I saw Charlie enter. "Michael!?" She asked me and walked up to me.

Charlie's point of view

So Michael works at Sheldons...interesting. I walked over to him after calling his name. "Hey Michael." I say to him in a cheery tone. "Let's see if I can get a discount." I thought to myself as I walked to him. "Hey Charlie." Michael replied back to me with. I was looking at the weapons in the store. "Can you show me some of the new ones?" I asked him.

Michael nodded his head. "Sure." He said, he started to walk towards one of the racks. "Not surprised you're here Charlie." I turned around to see my best friend and fellow teammate Libitina. "Hey Tina." I said to her and she walked over to me. "Are you still looking for a second weapon to use?" Tina asked me. "Yeah." I answered back.

I looked at the entrance and noticed Gilbur entering. I decided to not acknowledge him. I was actually shocked to see him here. I turned to see Michael carrying a few weapons over. "These are our new ones." He said. He had a pair of splat dualies that were colored differently, a new type of roller, and a different charger. "We have more but I could only carry these." He said.

Tina immediately grabbed the charger. "What's this one?" She asked. "Firefin charger, we have both Scope and non-scope. Comes with Splashwall and Suction bomb Launcher." Michael explained. Tina smiled and paid for her new weapon. I looked at the dualies. "The ones you're looking at are Enperry Dualies. Curling bomb and Inkjet." Michael explained.

Inkjet? I love the inkjet and splatdualies. Now I can use both and change my gear. "Yes please!!" I said holding them. Michael asked me for the gold. "Aww...can't you give me a small discount?" I pleaded. Michael looked at Sheldon who was working with another customer. "15% discount. I'll pay for the rest." He said. I smiled and paid him. "Thank you!!!" I said and ran out of the store.

Michael's Point of view

I smiled and added some of my own money to the cost. "She's a nice girl." I mumbled to myself as I rang in the two purchases. I looked around and saw agent 4 walk up holding a brush. I asked for the money and he began to search all over the place for the remaining cash he needed. I decided to give a small discount and pay for the rest. "You have enough money kid." I said.

Agent four smiled and walked out carrying his new brush. "I might want to teach him some things..." I say to myself. The day was busy, at night Slushie and I were cleaning the shop when I got a text. "Hey this is Charlie. I got your number from your best friend I met randomly in a battle. Thanks for the discount. <3." I smiled and put my phone away. Sheldon walked over to me with a box. "Here Michael. Someone wanted me to give you something." He said. I took the box and set it on the counter.

I carried the box to my apartment. I grabbed a knife from the kitchen and cut the tape off and opened the box. I was shocked to see a pair of splatdualies in the box. "But...I don't do turf anymore." I said as I grabbed them. I noticed a note in the box and picked up to begin reading. "I know you don't battle anymore, but in case you ever do. I got you something." <3 Charlie. I Chuckled and put the splat dualies with my old weapon before heading off to bed.
