Cassie Dewitz had always had an irritational fear of big structures. It was simply beyond her control. It haunted her everywhere she went. Whether it was going on luxury cruises, staying in largely structured hotels, or simply going out to get groceries at Costco. So imagine how she'd felt when she walked into the huge high school, with only two friends throughout building, one being her older brother, Michael. It had been her junior year, and she had just moved to Boca Raton, Florida.

Walking into school was like walking into an unstable wooden hut. Or at least it was for me. Every loud footstep made shook me to my absolute core, the feeling of instability lingering throughout every inch of me. Every loud echo that bounced off the lockers and reflected onto the ceilings made me feel as though the roof would collapse from above us.

I practically punched myself in the face, although I only pinched the skin on my arm, to shake away these awful thoughts. My eyes scattered throughout the hallways to find something to distract myself. My eyes made their way onto another beautiful set of eyes. They were sweet, almost almond shaped. A refreshing chill crawled down my back as she looked to me. She delivered me a wink, before proceeding to walk past me from the other side of the hallway.

I had no clue what had gotten into my at that moment. It seemed as if time stopped, or at least drastically slowed down. Yet even with the time feeling so slowed, I was barely able to give the gorgeous girl a reaction. An awkward smile whilst almost immediately looking away was the best I could give her in the pressure of the moment. I practically scolded myself the entire day about it. Yet, I was enticed to learn more about this woman.

Walking home from school was simpler and quicker than I thought. Just a few quick cuts and turns to get where I want to be. I slipped my key into the keyhole and unlocked the door before entering the chaotic mess I like to call home. My little sister, Lisa, would be in the living room, watching the same dumb toddler program on the TV. I swear it's hypnotizing her, as she barely looks up when anyone says her name. Then there's my unapologetically bothersome older brother, Michael. He'd usually be helping my mom out in the kitchen. Then there'd be boxes scattered throughout the living room, waiting to be unpacked.

Today, only Michael was in the kitchen. "Hey sport, how was your first day?" he asked, as he started greasing a pan. I grabbed a stool and sat down, spinning in it.

"It was alright, I made some new friends," I tell him. "How did you get here before me?" I asked, confusedly. He runs the sink water and the white noise of the faucet filled the air.

"I drove home, dummy. You should try it." he says, scrubbing his hands with soap before letting out a loud chuckle. "Oh wait, you failed the driver's test. Three times."

I scoffed. "Do me a favor," I ask of him. "staple your mouth shut." I tell him. I get up and walk over to the stairs, and make my way to my room.

"I still love you, though!" I hear him yell. "Whatever!" I shout back, before slamming my door. I grab my laptop and finish up my classwork from today.

It was near the end of October, meaning school had already started for others. Luckily, everyone was kind and welcoming to me, and I even made some new friends.

My thoughts were interrupted by a dinging sound from my laptop. It was a new email, from the school.

Dear students of North Broward Preparatory School, there will be a school musical, hosted by your Theater Arts teacher, Ms. Bodine! The movie we will be recreating is called Deadly Miracle. The cast list will be shown down below. If you are interested, choose a role and audition as it. Auditions will be held in Auditorium 3 at 3:40 afterschool. Good luck to all!

Excitement rushes over me in this exact moment. I could sit here and lie and say that I'm not a die hard Deadly Miracle fan. But the two big Deadly Miracle posters would beg to differ. I'd be auditioning as Vonnie Lancaster, of course. How could I not? She was my favorite on the cast.
