The Ndubz Reunion- Another Ndubz?

Chapter 3- 2 Years On (The check)

2 years had passed since Maisie had stormed off determined that she would be a solo artist.

Maisie is now 12 years old, Lily is now 7. They still live in north London with Tula and Danny. Gareth has since found himself a new place to live- right next door!

Just like Tula, Maisie wants to become a solo artist and isn't bothered about anything else! She hates school- just like Tula, but is made to go.

"Why do i have to go to school when i could be in the studio?" Maisie screamed.

"Because unlike me, you're going to get good grades lady!" Replied Tula firmly.

This was an on going battle between the two. All Maisie wanted to do was make music and sell out arenas, not sit in a classroom all day learning pointless things.

A week passed. They conituned to have the same argument every morning and every night. Gareth finds it hillarious as Maisie is just like Tula.. Tula doesn't find it so funny. It was Friday afternoon and Maisie had just got in from school. Tula was sat at the table with Lily helping her do homework, and Danny was at work.

"Had a good day babe?" Tula asked Maisie

"What do you think?" Maisie replied sarcastically.

"Erm you don't need to talk to me in that tone, I suggest you change your attitude." Tula shouted.

"Oh whatever, I suggest you leave me alone for once!" Maisie screamed as she stormed off.

" I suggest you get to your room and stay there!" Tula shouted.

"Oh don't worry i am, I don't want to see either of you!" Maisie screamed whilst slamming the door.

Tula sighed. Maisie's behaviour reminded her or a 12 year old girl she knew, who hated school and just wanted to do music. Maisie reminded her of a 12 year old Tula.

Meanwhile Maisie was laid on her bed thinking. She didn't mean to act so horrible towards the people she loved the most. All she wanted to do was make music. That's all she thought she could do. She started to write a new song.

Two hours passed. Maisie was still in her room. Lily and Tula were sat watching Tangled and Danny was still at work. There was a knock on the door. Tula opened the door to find Dappy stood there.

"Daps? What you come round for?" Tula asked surprised.

"I was wondering if i could speak to Maisie?" Dappy replied.

"You can try," said Tula sighing, "I'll go get her, come in".

Dappy came in and shut the door behind him. Tula walked to the bottom of the stairs and shouted Maisie.

"Maisie, uncle Dappy's here to see you, come down now!" she shouted.

"Ok fine, I'm coming," Maisie shouted.

Maisie came down wearing her trackies and hoodie.

"Tula, do you mind if i speak to Maze alone?" Dappy asked wondering.

"Erm, ye sure. Come on Lils," Tula replied.

"Thanks T," said Dappy similing.

Tula smiled and walked into the hall with Lilly.

"Coming to sit down Maze?" Dappy asked.

"Erm ok, What's this about? It's about being in a band then you're wasting your time. I'm going solo," Maisie responded.

"Well yes. It's about that but please listen Maze." Dappy asked softly.

"Go on then," Maisie said uninterested.

Dappy stopped for a moment., staring at the floor. He then started to speak.

"Well, i've been thinking. You're a lot like your mother when she was 11. She wanted to become a solo artist and was determined that nothing would stop her, till Uncle B came round."

Dappy stopped, a tear rolling down his cheek. A few minutes later he continued.

"I also know how much your mother regrets her behaviour with her mum and at school. She'd do anything to go back and get her grades. It's too late for her Maze, but it's not for you. You have to do it for yourself, but also for your mum. So can you promise me you will try Maze? Not for me, not for your mum, not even for yourself, but for Uncle B."

Maisie sighed, tears strolling down her face. She didn't realise how much she'd upset her mum. She wanted to do well, just wasn't interested in school. She thought for a moment then replied to Dappy.

"You're right Uncle Daps. I've been horrible to my mum, but it's just means so much. I really want to make it and whilst i'm in school that won't happen but i'll try. For you, me and Uncle B, But also for my mum. I want to make her proud."

"Come here beautiful," Dappy said hugging Maisie.

"So Maisie, I know you say you want to be a solo artist and all that but i thought id do what my dad did. I want to make you an offer, to join my boy Gino and Leo and form a band. I know it's not what you want, but please think about it."

Dappy hands her a check, folded in half so she couldn't see the amount.

"Will you think about it for me? For me and Uncle B?" Dappy asked.

"I will, I can't make promises though Uncle Daps," Maisie responded shocked.

"Ok, thank you darling. I'll leave you now and please dont forget; be kind to your mum for me". Dappy  said as he stood up.

Maisie smiled and noded. Dappy walked towards the door and opened it.

"I'll speak to you soon darling," Dappy told Maisie.

"See you soon T," Dappy shouted whilst closing the door.

It was silent. Maisie just sat there, holding the check. She didn't dare open it. A few minutes passed and she decided she may as well see what it said. As she opened the check her jaw dropped.

"£5,000, wow." Maisie said to herself.

Little did Dappy and Maisie know, Tula was stood in the hall and had heard their whole converstaion. Tears strolled down her cheek. 

Maisie had a decision to make. Would she make it on her own? Or would she talk to the person who'd also been in the same situation? Would Maisie talk to her mum?

Will Maisie join the new band? Will this be the next Ndubz?
