There are two things I knew that would kill me.

These flashing lights, and the way I was running. Maybe, I should add drowning in these big water holes.

Three things, three things that could kill me.

I wonder how long I had been running for. Did my legs really hurt me? I lost the feeling of pain hours ago, maybe even days had went by as I continued on running.

The freezing wind kept on getting stronger. The way the rain hit my face, was nearly unbearable, as if it was choking me to death. My breaths were heavy, my throat was blocked by all the cold wind that was blowing in my way. It made my chest feel really heavy, in such a way that it felt like thousands of knives were cutting through it.

My feet banged on the ground, splashing water around as I continued waiting and wait-, no wanting to stop.  It seemed more like my feet were going to fall off any second, trying my hardest to escape.

But from whom?

Where was I?

Why was I running?

There was a cold sweat on the back of my neck. As I felt it, I realized that not only my neck, but all over my body was covered with sweat.

I wanted to stop, I wanted to take a breath, and I wanted to rest on the bench over there.

But now it seemed as if it was the hardest mission ever.

In my hazy state, I tried looking at my surrounding. Houses, houses, houses, all around me were houses that looked average.

Average?

What was average exactly?

Thoughts and thoughts were running through my head as if nothing could stop them. I felt strangely confused, worried and scared from what was happening to me.

Why was I here?

Something inside of me just knew that they wouldn’t just stop, that my legs would continue running, ignoring what I wanted.

How long have I ran for?

Conciseness came back to me with each minute passing by. I was more aware of my thin clothes, the pain in my back, and the phone in my left hand that no longer felt like mine.

I just want to stop.

Please.

It did stop. This time, it listened to me, it followed my orders like it was supposed to do. I was coughing loudly, trying to catch my breath. My legs were shaking like leaf paper, my lips were trembling with cold, and my hands were shaking that I almost dropped the phone.

But I didn’t.

I could never do that.

But why?

I looked up, trying to find a clue where I was. I found myself in front of someone’s porch. It was strangely neat, even though it’s raining hard outside.
