Poet's Note: "DearBeautiful" was the first letter I ever wrote in this book, but actually, theversion you see now is a highly edited version of the original. If you were oneof my first readers, then you know that this book was originally NOT poetry butslowly morphed into it, and I rewrote the first few letters to match. This wasmy first writing because I believe it addresses one of the most common problemsin our world (specifically for women): Beauty. And yes, everyone always says'be yourself', 'you are perfect the way you are', but as a female myself, Iknow that those words don't amount to much. And this applies to men too, justin a bit of a different way. So yes, you ARE beautiful, but I know those threewords won't make you believe it. That's what this poem is for. Maybe after youread it... you'll feel a bit differently :)

Dear Beautiful,

New soul start to life, eyes blink into light,
A heart opening wide in a glimpse of true sight;
The world flashing around, exploding colorful sounds,
So much possibility, so many things to believe;
Musically flowing, inspiring sort of glowing,
The first to come and the last there will be.

In a universe shifting changes, trial and error in stages,
Each new voice a part of the full melody;
With each breath a starting moment, a life giving explosion,
Energy bubbling in a mountain majestic free;
Blissful ignorance upward flying, sprit soaring, sunlight shining,
No down to earth fall to reality.

Time passing by, day to night, rain fills skies,
Thunder clapping through the softest breeze;
A morning call with a start, and the dreams drift apart,
When did the beauty turn so bleak and obscene?
Life used to be free of burdens, fantasies and bright moments,
Suddenly, its vibrancy is unseen.

Sharp like a knife, pressing salt in, under the pressure stronger growing,
And now the daylight no longer seems to awake;
Reminisce of the days, when your worries were just a daze,
When only what you wanted you would ever believe;
But with new time, memories change, into broken pieces of pain,
Every joy crumpling, ripping apart at the seams.

Wishing your world could've never changed, that happiness could forever reign,
That young and free was a lifelong pleasant dream;
Stars shining endless through the night, watching over all till daylight,
Surrounded in the full moon's smiling beams;
What a mess has been made, but you can't see your mistake,
Climbing and falling, no moment of peace in between.

You've given everything you had, but all you've lost is never gained again,
No return, the path with your vision blurring;
Another step, another day, another added pierce to your brain,
Already shaking in the walls soon collapsing;
You've given up, you've given in, end it all, you'll never win,
One more goal to stop the hurt escalating.

More tears streaming down with your pride, shot again, you can't survive,
Following days of passing time, with no horizon in sight;
This is it, this is the end, you won't meander through another bend,
You can't be good enough to even matter;
Staring cold, eye to eye, face to face in the mirror you can't hide,
So much confusion, placidity split in shatters.
