:3: A Little Bit Better
Riley's POV
After spending the day looking for Maya (unsuccessfully, I might add), I finally arrived home at 7:47pm. A sleeping Auggie was carried inside by Uncle Shawn, who was staying in one of the guest rooms in the apartment.
I flopped down on my bed and picked up my phone. I opened Messages and started typing one to Maya.
Me: Hey
That one message quickly turned into several.
Me: Where are you?
Me: I miss you
Me: Please come back soon
Me: I need you, Maya
Me: You're my best friend.
It was unlikely she would read them, but writing them made me feel a little bit better.

Maya's POV
The bus pulled to a stop when we reached Philadelphia. The sky was cloudy, but at least it wasn't raining. It had rained on the way here though.
I turned my head slightly to look at Lucas. He had fallen asleep on my shoulder after about 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure in books the girl was supposed to fall asleep on the guy, but if our life were a story I wouldn't be on this bus in the first place.
"Doofus," I said, shaking him softly.
"We're here," I tried again, poking him this time.
"Lucas?" I questioned, pushing him a little bit harder than I intended. He fell half off the seat, before waking up, realising what had happened and freaking out.
"Goldilocks, what is going on?" he asked, flailing around as his seatbelt held him to the seat, but not tight enough that he could manage to sit up properly.
"I don't know. And I told you not to call me Goldilocks," I said as I pulled him onto the seat. He undid his seatbelt and stood up, pulling me up as well.
"But I like it," he decided as we got off the bus.
~•~
"Goldilocks? Where exactly are we going?"
I turned my eyes heavenwards. I had no idea where we were going and I was hungry and tired. Running away was starting to seem like a bad idea. Lucas and I were almost out of money too, considering the fact that we'd been in New York City for a month. We'd been walking for a couple of hours, and I'd just about had enough.
"I don't know," I said through gritted teeth.
"You know, you'd be less tired if you slept on the bus."
"And who's fault was that?" I snapped, turning around. "If you hadn't gone to sleep on me, I would've had a chance to sleep, but nooo."
Lucas looked guilty. "I'm sorry. I-"
"No," I cut him off. "Don't worry about it. Really. I just need some sleep."
"Well..." Lucas looked around. "Why don't we go to sleep here?"
He gestured to a bench in the park we were at.
"It is 9pm," he said, as if he needed to convince me.
"Okay," I told him, and he sat on the bench. I rested my head on his shoulder.
"Night, Lucas."
"Night, Goldilocks."
------
Philadelphia huh? Well, that seems like somewhere we might meet some people... **Hint, hint**
Ava Kolker (who plays Ava Morgenstern on GMW) followed me on Instagram today, and I freaked out.
Also, no Maya flashback this chapter D: !! But some text messages that will end up coming into the story at some point.
Question time!
What did you think about Lucaya's argument?
Xoxo, stay fabulous!
