Hello! A VERY important change to note is that I went back to my previous chapters and changed the name of the fiancé to Ken (short for Kenneth). Since Melissa is a fictional name, I'd rather all the other characters have fictional names as well (it's my weird pet peeve alright HAHA - I would change the names of our main characters to fictional ones if it wasn't such a hassle).

-----

"Last course - dessert! Did you manage to catch up to her?" Melissa asked when Aga returned to the table, while presenting the plates of scrumptious-looking molten lava chocolate cakes.

"Yeah. But she was in a rush," he mumbled rather incoherently and vaguely.

He figured it awkward to explain exactly what he found out. How could he put it? "Oh yeah, she was trying to set us up but I butchered it completely."

No. He obviously couldn't.

"Thish ish niche," he said, his mouth full with cake, deciding instead to try and divert her attention.

"Really? You like it? That's great! My head chef will be pleased," she replied with a big smile on her face, clearly glad that the dessert was well-appreciated, and he on the other hand, was also clearly glad to see that the diversion tactic worked.

"Pity Lea isn't here to try it," he blurted without thinking.

"Yeah. She would love this...no, you know what, I'll be right back."

-----

"You still like her, don't you?"

"Wha-What? What are you talking about?"

"Lea. You still like her."

"You're asking me, or telling me?"

"Both. You're pretty obvious actually, so maybe the latter."

"I'm obvious? How - turn right here please, thanks - how am I so obvious?"

"You're admitting it now, aren't you?"

He chose not to speak.

"Well, I see how you look at her all the time. Even during dinner, you pay attention to what she needs," she continued, "Even when we're talking, your eyes will shift to her and check if she's okay. Need me to say more?"

"No, nevermind, you can stop there," he rushed out the words, a little exasperatedly.

She chuckled.

"Left here?"

"Oh yeah, thanks!"

"Do you think she knows?" he added after a while.

"You two are as oblivious as oblivious gets."

"Is that a yes...or no?"

"I'm betting on a 'no', based on my understanding of her."

"Thank goodness," he mumbled under his breath.

"Thank goodness? What for?"

"What? I wasn't that loud," he asked quickly, rather taken aback.

"Yeah, you were. Don't try to avoid my question, I'm not that forgetful."

"Well, obviously she can't know. Isn't that obvious, Miss Smartypants?"

She rolled her eyes.

"You like her. But you don't want her to know. Not too smart either, are you?"

"You want me to wreck a family by letting her know? I see that I don't come across as bright to you, but please don't insult my common sense."

"Hold your horses, bud. I didn't say anything about brains here, don't shoot me. What family are you talking about?"
