Song suggestion: Mt. Washington by Local Natives"Hurry your ass up!"
Y/N called back to the young man that was struggling to keep up with their pace, they were walking a secluded trail to the top of a local mountain. It wasn't a high mountain, or particularly steep, but it did have a view of the whole village. The village that they had both called home since the day they were born, the place where Y/N was ready to start their life, to grow old and fall in the footsteps of their family.
"Keep shouting and I will just turn around and go home"
Oscar threatened playfully as he dragged himself further up the steep gravel path. He didn't appreciate the clouds that hung thick in the sky, or the spring time pollen that was being cast into the air and threatening to choke him. Eventually he caught up with his friend, reaching out from a few paces behind them and taking their hand.
"We have all day, I don't understand your rush"
He sighed, managing to tame them for only a moment, they stopped in their tracks and looked at him fondly. They sighed and nodded before a devious grin settled on their face, they gripped his hand with a vice like strength and began running up the hill again. Oscar nearly fell as Y/N now pulled him along quickly, but the end was in sight and he wasn't going to eat dirt now.
As they both reached the top, he tried to catch his breath, his hands on his knees as he leaned over for a moment. Y/N didn't have the same problem, they felt alive, the wind in their hair and the earth beneath their feet, there was nothing that could give them a rush more than the Swedish country side. They smoothed out their garments and looked at Oscar, snickering as they reached over and fixed the collar of his jacket. The young man looked up and gave a half smile
"You need to get used to the walk, this is where I'll be bringing you till you're in a rocking chair and housebound"
Y/N quipped, but this small statement caused the smile to slowly slip from Oscars face. He nodded and swallowed the lump in his throat before heading to the edge that overlooked the village, he slumped down and picked at the corners of his finger nails.
"Oscar?"
Y/N's words were laced with the deepest concern as they joined him, taking his hand from him to stop him from picking at the dirt under his nails.
"Something is bothering you-"
They studied every handsome feature like it was the first time seeing him.
"You can talk to me, we're in this life together reme-"
Before they could finish their caring sentence, Oscar butted in, raising his voice.
"But we aren't"
His words echoed through the valley, bouncing off buildings and mountains alike, a few birds flew their nests at the loud noises.
"We aren't..."
He sighed, pulling his hand away from them.
"I'm leaving. There's nothing for me here, and Axel has found us a well paying job that's perfect for our skill sets... we're leaving on Wednesday."
He spoke with a heavy heart. Y/N felt their world crashing down around them, it was so little time compared to the life they thought they would have.
"Wednesday? Will.... will you come back?"
He shook his head as they asked, looking out on the village he felt his heart constricting, the world was crumbling and he could only stand back and watch. With a bold heart Y/N shuffled towards him, leaning their head on his shoulder as they fought back tears that threatened to spill to the ground like waterfalls. The heavy clouds that blanketed the sky appeared to only grow darker with every passing second, as if their tears would trigger the rain to pour.
"There- there's so mu-much we still have to d-do"
They gave a sad laugh through their pain, feeling his hand slowly wrap around their own, he squeezed it tightly.
"jag vet"
He muttered, letting his eyes drift from the village to the person by him.
"förlåt, älskling"
Looking back out on the world he felt dread rising, he didn't see the need to run away to the commission at the first sign of danger, he wanted to stay here even if the harvests were failing each year and everything is getting more expensive. He wanted a life here, even if it's an insecure one, he wanted a life with Y/N.
"Well-"
Y/N wiped their tears from their cheeks as the rain began to spit on them, kicking them while their down.
"We'll just have to make the most of these... five days"
The words made them want to stop existing, they wanted to curl up in a ball and disappear from this place.
Oscar wrapped a strong arm around their waist and pulled them closer, planting a gentle kiss to their forehead respectfully.
"Ye-yeah"
He cleared his throat, closing his eyes. They remained on that mountain for hours, watching the unchanging scenery that appeared frozen in time, as if someone had pressed the big pause button in the sky to stop the world from spinning. They didn't speak, they sat in silence together as the dread only grew stronger between them. Y/N's mind was flooded with thoughts of revenge, how they would like to wrap their hands around axel's throat. Oscar's mind was filled with the opposite, he wanted to wrap his arms around them and never let go... but he had to let go.
He left in the night without a warning, no goodbye, no notes, he only left his jacket behind. The one that y/n always joked about stealing, well, they can have it now, he won't need it at the commission. He only wished there could have been more time, he only wished there could have been more between them.((A sad one I know, but sometimes it be like that, I am working on happier ones and just need my sad energy out))
