Limping her way into the park, Amy Rose yawned through the park, forcing herself to stay awake to hang out with her friends for a girl's night. When she caught sight of what she thought were her friends from a distance, she managed to straighten up and tried to put on a joyful face. Once she was close enough away from them, one of her friends, Rouge, waved her over with a smile spread across her face. Noticing Amy's clumsy stance, Rouge's face changed from excited to worried in a second, "Amy, baby girl, how have you been? You look like you haven't slept in weeks."

Worried to confess what was going on, Amy tried to convince Rouge and the others that everything was alright while waving her hands in the air, proving there were no strings attached to her claims while forcing a smile through her tired state of mind. It was clear to her friends that she was lying. They pushed her to tell them what was going on. Amy sighed in defeat, saying, "Ok, so I haven't gotten any proper sleep in the past" She paused for a moment, "few months." She laughs while rubbing the back of her head nervously.

Rouge, Blaze, Cream, and Sally's faces are flustered as they stare at Amy in silence. Amy then flares her hands all over the place, "Hey, don't look at me like that. I'm trying to maintain a proper sleeping schedule until I figure everything out." Her friend's face didn't change, making Amy more nervous, "Uh, guys?"

A sudden burst of worried screams and hands grabbing Amy's shoulders scared Amy more awake than usual. A series of "What happened?" "Why didn't you tell us sooner?" "We could've helped you if you were having trouble with anything." "Spill the beans! What's going on? Who's done this to you? Are you not eating too? What? What?! WHAT!?!" Rouge and Sally shake Amy violently while Blaze and Cream spurr out questions beside them. Amy didn't know what to do or say with everyone speaking all at once to the point she couldn't hear herself think.

After a couple of minutes of shaking and endless questions. An angry voice from behind shouted, "Will you shut up and let Amy speak for Mobius's sake!!" Rouge and Sally finally stopped shaking Amy, and there was complete silence. The girls turned around to see Shadow angrily staring with his arms crossed. Rouge gave Shadow a questioning look and joked, "Shadow? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be sulking on top of a building or something?"

"Hmph, did you all forget you're at a public park where EVERYONE can hear you shouting? I was walking up the street when I came across your nonsense. Whatever you're bothering Amy about, let her speak her mind." Shadow turns away from the group to walk away. He continues, "You're disturbing the peace with your yelling."

Amy regains her vision from her dizzy state. A slight grin grew on her face, "Thanks, Shadow. I owe you one." Shadow waves a hand in the air, indicating he heard her, but didn't bother turning around. Amy looked back at her friends. They still have the same worried glare, waiting for Amy to spill the beans. Amy gave a deep breath, mentally and physically preparing herself to admit her concerns. She knows this is probably nothing to the others, but it bothers her the most.

"What? That's what's causing you to lose sleep? Why would you believe in such a claim from Sonic at all?" Sally burst out, almost laughing. Rouge added, "I'm sorry, sweetie, but Sonic isn't the type to know any kind of legend that is not a myth."

Blaze, calm and collected, nudges Rouge to stop her from laughing, stating, "This is no laughing matter, considering the rumors that have been going around recently about people going missing in the night, but Rouge and Sally are correct, Amy. It could just be a coincidence that all this is happening, but Sonic is one to pull jokes that may seem serious to get into other's skins. There's no such thing as the forbidden forest monster. That's just a stupid legend people spread around so they wouldn't go to the forest in the first place since no one ever finds their way back anyways."

Amy rubs the back of her head. Embarrassed but smiling, "Yeah, I know, but it's still something to worry about sometimes. Not only that, I feel like something or someone is watching me every night, so it's hard for me to feel comfortable in my own home."

"Well, to make things a little easier for you. How about having a sleepover at my place tonight? Maybe then you would get some decent sleep, Sweety~" Rouge suggested, feeling sincere and understanding. "Come on. It'll be fun for all of us."

Amy smiled but looked down with doubt, "I appreciate that you guys want to help me get over this, but my little sister is coming to visit tomorrow, and I want to make sure I'm home when she comes by. Maybe another time after my sister leaves. That is if I can make it through the week without struggling to pass out every time."

Rouge, Sally, Blaze, and Cream stare at Amy with more concern in their eyes. Amy waves her arms in the air, motioning for them to change the topic, "Uh, anywho, enough about my silly sleep deprivation situation. How about we make the best of tonight while we're still together."

After a few seconds, the girls decided to go with the flow and enjoyed the rest of the girls' night out. Meanwhile, deep in the woods, Mephiles floats amongst the treelines, out of sight, examining the group of girls talking amongst themselves. Infinite comes up behind Mephiles, wanting to know what he's up to, "Out to find your next victim again, Mephiles? Don't you ever get tired of track and kills every time you encounter a victim? Have you ever had a victim live for more than five minutes?"

Mephiles ignores Infinite's words, still examining a specific target amongst the group of girls below him. Infinite spots the target too and decides to mess around with Mephiles, "Eyeing the pink one I see. Tell you what, how's about a bet, old friend?"

Mephiles glares at Infinite in irritation, "Why would I do something as childish as that? What are the benefits of doing such a thing anyways?"

Infinite smirks under his mask. He points at the pink hedgehog below, stating, "If you can last an entire month without harming or threatening the girl in any way, shape, or form, I'll tell leader you're more qualified to run the forest. Kill counts is one way to gain his trust, but sustaining a victim for a more treacherous and heart-wrenching kill is more than enough to get you the spot you deserve."

Mephiles rolls his eyes, "Don't take me as a fool, Infinite. The last henchman that did that fell in love with the victim, hence why no one has attempted the same mistake again."

"That's right, but if you can last longer than they did, the leader would see more potential in you than anyone else. I would've done it myself, but my self-control is way beyond sanity control. I believe you can pull it off more than any of us would."

Mephiles becomes intrigued with his offer, Infinite continues, "and to make sure you don't make mistakes, I'll be monitoring you and act as your witness in case no one ever believes you pulled it off." He lifts his finger, indicating there's more to the offer, "but there's a catch. If you don't make it through the month and end up killing for falling for her, you'll hand over every last soul you have. If you successfully make it through the month with no problems, the title of leader is yours, and you can do whatever you please with me." He extends his hand out to Mephiles, "do we have a deal?"

Mephiles stares at Infinite's hand for a moment before finally shaking to seal the deal. Infinite smirk grew larger under his mask, and a chuckle left his mouth, "Starting tonight when you talk to her, that's when time starts." Infinite flies off to do his duties, while Mephiles glances back at the pink hedgehog below before flying into the forest himself.
