Dear readers I will be entering this poem into a major competition which calls for me to remove it from wattpad for awhile.
Sorry another poem lost into cyberspace.
so I will add something else here to this collect.
The poem to replace this one for now.
I Knew a Man Once
I Knew a man who worked the soil
Tilting the Earth to grow what he could
When he finished sowing his seed
He would whisper, a single word
"Amen"
I knew a woman once
when the world made her sad
She would whisper, "Hail Mary Full of Grace".
Without the rosary beads.
I knew myself once
Back in my youth
I would sing
In a place of wood
With the rhythm
Of "Hail Mary Full of Grace."
And felt the scared light
Shine on my face.
I knew a woman once
When the day was done
And night had come
She would close her eyes
And whisper
"Dear Sweet Lord Come."
I knew a man once
Who would dig the soil
A worthy toil
Which didn't need oil.
When he finished his digging
His patch
He would sow his seeds
Like an actor bowing
Completing his act.
Once that deed was done
He watered each sown spot
With a single word spoken
Amen.
Each day he would enter
Into his garden
And repeat his actions
Sometimes removing a weed or two.
He would whisper
A single word, Amen.
