Chapter 10

Jory lifted Ronin's limp body into his arms.

"What now Shady," he huffed. I didn't know the physical way to the lab shit

"I'm going to try and poof us," I stated, not convinced that I could.

Jory raises a brow at me and smirks,"Don't you mean shift Shady, I don't recall ever hearing about poofing."

I roll my eyes and grab him.

"Close your eyes, " I muttered as I concentrate. Thankfully we appeared in the lab.

"Lay him in the rebirther," I order and he gently lowers Ronin inside.

"What now Shady."

I pause and take a calming breath. I look at Jory and frown.

"I've never been on this side of a rebirther Jory," I gasp in fear.

"Move your butt, dumby," Jory shakes his head," You owe me." He clicks the monitor and scrolls through the options

"Do you at least know which is his profile, there are two here." He gives me a side glance and laughing, continues to look at the information. He nods and selects the first profile. The pod hisses as the lid closes and starts to hum.

"Shady you better have your mate explain these tasks because if I wasn't here," he whistles a low tone.

"Kinda weird you were hired to kill him yet here you are being his savior," I smirk then sigh, "Thank you Jory, you're correct, I do owe you."

Jory sits in a chair and glances at me a slight grin on his leathery face. "I wouldn't have done it for anyone else. You know I still consider you my real mother."

"You're a good egg Jory," I grin, then scowl. "Why in the fuck did you take a hit on a celestial king," I growled at him. Jury's eyes got big and he looked sad. "Burgess is reptilian like me, an alpha and very powerful, I could not refuse his orders," Jory sighs. "But with you involved I will not follow through no matter the consequences, I will offer a blood pledge to you and your mate, when he wakes."

I get up and give the big oaf a hug, tears falling down my cheeks. "You're such a wonderful, perfect egg, Jory. I raised you well," I mumble into his chest as he pets my head. "I'm all grown now, far from being an egg, but I get the sentiment," Jory chuckles.
