i woke up a few days later to alfie shaking my shoulders to wake me up. "you've got to come look at this," she said, her eyes wide with shock. i dressed quickly and followed her downstairs, my mouth falling open as i noticed a sign posted to the notice board in the common room.
BY ORDER OF THE HIGH INQUISITOR OF HOGWARTS
All student organizations, societies, teams, groups, and clubs are henceforth disbanded.my eyes widened as i read the rest of the board. jan had a grumpy look on her face. "so much for joining your DADA club," she grumbled, and i shook my head. "no. i'm sure they have a way. c'mon." we headed upstairs to the great hall, where i noticed a group of people already gathered around harry, ron and hermione. jan and alfie followed me nervously towards them, seated at the gryffindor table.
hermione glanced up, a look of alarm on her face. she waved me away quickly. "later!" she mouthed, and i nodded, taking the hint. "she must think it'll look suspicious." i commented, and jan nodded. "she's right. i've never talked to her in my life."
"can i steal you for a second, katherine?" a cool voice sounded behind us, and jan narrowed her eyes at me as i turned to face a smirking draco. "what for?" i asked, and he shrugged. "come along." he turned and strode out of the great hall, and i had no choice but to follow him reluctantly as he walked through a door into an empty classroom.
"what-,"
he pinned me against the wall, his lips attacking mine before i could question him. without any thought, i kissed him back, hitching my leg up around his waist as i did so. his lips explored mine hungrily, his hands running down my body and up my leg, sending shivers down my spine.
his lips left mine, and i whined, eliciting a smirk from him as he pressed kisses against my neck, sucking on it softly. "don't leave a mark," i said, swatting his head. "they'd know."
"hmm." he kissed me on the lips again, ending my anger, and i tasted the sweet taste of vanilla against them as i grabbed his hair in my hands. finally, he released me, smirking at my flustered expression.
"what-," i began again, but he cut me off.
"what are potter and his friends planning? you must know, i saw you with them the other day."
i stared at him in surprise. "uhh... nothing? not that i know of. and did you kiss me so that you could get a secret out of me? that's not very nice."
"no." he grinned. "i kissed you because i wanted to. getting a secret out of you would have just been a bonus. but... whatever you say." he winked at me, pressing his lips against mine once more before he slithered outside and left me alone in the classroom.
jesus christ.

it turned out that draco wanted to kiss me more and more over the next couple weeks. every day after potions, he'd manage to pull me aside somewhere, kissing me with no explanation.
i was still in so much pain mentally that i didn't mind. i kissed him back, glad for an escape, even though i barely knew him. i had grown used to the way he kissed me, and adapted so that our lips fit perfectly together. i could tell jan and alfie were constantly suspicious of where i was sneaking off to, but i tried to make excuses.
today, we were perched in an empty classroom that we usually met up at. i was on top of a desk, my legs wrapped around draco's waist while he kissed me. i smiled into the kiss as he pulled on my bottom lip with his teeth. when he broke the kiss, i looked him up and down. "how was your day?"
"what?" he looked shocked, backing up, letting my legs fall and hit the front of the desk. "i asked how your day was. am i not allowed to talk to you?"
"well, we aren't friends, so why would we talk?"
i gritted my teeth. "if we aren't friends, draco, why do we make out after class every day?"
he grinned. "making out isn't something friends do."
i frowned at him. "but you can't tell me you want to be more than friends either. it feels an awful lot like youre using me, draco."
he gave me a pout, imitating the sour look on my face, as he tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. "i'm not using you, katherine. and why do we have to label things? you never labeled anything with diggory."
my face fell, and he immediately grabbed it in his hands, peering down at me. "i'm sorry. i shouldn't have said that." i frowned sadly at him. "at least cedric told me he liked me. all you do is tell me how not special i am."
draco frowned. "what? you want me to tell you that i like you? you know i can't."
"because you don't?" my voice was rising in anger, and draco looked torn. "no. because people can't know about this. and if i told you i liked you... i wouldn't be able to stay away. it's probably better if we stop doing this. it's meaningless."
i stared at him in shock as he headed towards the door. "does that mean you do like me then?" he stopped, and i heard a sigh echo out of his mouth.
"it's not a matter of how i feel, katherine. plus, we barely know each other." i scowled, sliding off the desk and walking behind him, grabbing his arm with both hands. "but we could know each other. don't you understand what i've been trying to do? can't you just tell me about your day? please? i want to know you, draco. i really do."
he turned, his eyes clouded. "i know, katherine. and maybe one day you will. but we have to stop."
"no, we don't." i grabbed the collar of his shirt, pulling him down to me, pushing our lips together hurriedly. he didn't kiss me back. he took my hand and removed it from his shirt, giving me a sad look.
"this is my fault. you've gotten attached." he gave a small laugh, and i rolled my eyes. "i'm not attached, draco. i just want answers."
he sighed. "and i've told you. i don't have them. i gotta go, professor umbridge wants to see me. i'll see you... around." he glanced down at me once more before exiting the room, leaving me as frustrated as ever. what the fuck did that mean?
