7:00AM: STILL HOME

"You're going to school late today?" Mr. [L/n] asked his daughter incredulously.

[Name] nodded, munching on her breakfast. "I was way too early yesterday." She knew he'd probably sent her off early as an excuse not to have to deal with her in the mornings but of course she wasn't going to say so.

"Make any new friends?"
The girl thought for a moment before responding, "Well, there's Osana and Raibaru, they're very nice... and Taro, he's okay too—"

"Yeah, well, whatever, I'm going to be late home tonight. Just don't make a mess."

[Name] sighed as her father walked out and shut the door before she heard him leave in his car.
She was going to have to get used to this.

"What's that book you're always reading, Taro?" Osana asked curiously.

Raibaru, as usual, was watching from behind a tree - and this time, she'd insisted that [Name] watch with her too. [Name] had no idea why Raibaru found stalking so fun, but she made no attempt to escape. It was useless anyway. She'd only just found out that Raibaru was the former Martial Arts Club leader.
She didn't want to break her bones today.

"Oh, this?" Taro replied. "It's a very special book. My sister gave it to me."
"What's it called? What's it about?"

"Well..." Taro debated whether or not to make the offer, "if you're really interested, I could let you borrow it for a day... But you have to promise to take good care of it."

"R-Really? Y-You'd let me...?" Osana stuttered, her haughty mask slipping off for a moment. Then she brushed it away with a hasty, "I-I mean, of course I'd take good care of it! That's obvious!"

"Alright then. I'll let you borrow it." Taro smiled and handed the book to Osana. "Return it to me when school's over, okay?"
"Yeah, I will!" Osana took the book from his hands.

Taro walked away, and Osana ran over to Raibaru and [Name]. "He gave me his book!" she said smiling. "It's from his sister. I know her - the three of us played together as children."

"When will you read the book?" Raibaru asked. "In class this morning?"
"No..." Osana said blissfully. "I'm going to read it at lunch by the fountain where he always sits. It'll make me feel closer to him..."

[Name] chuckled. "You're such a hopeless romantic, you. Jokes aside, though, you're making progress! He'll fall for you one day, I know it."
Osana hugged [Name] tightly. "Thanks, [Name]."

[Name] was about to follow them to class, until she suddenly caught sight of the dark-haired girl she'd spoken to yesterday, following them. What was her name again...? Ayo— Aya—

She'd have to ask her now.
"Um, you guys, I'll join you in a sec." The [h/c] haired girl ran over to Ayano.

"Hey! It's me again..." [Name] nervously scratched her head, inwardly cursing herself yet again for sounding like a wimp. Ayano looked at her, emotionlessly. "S-So, what was your name again? I kinda forgot..."

"Ayano Aishi."
"A-Ah, yes! Ayano... er... would you like to walk to class together?" [Name] hoped this would be an opening to a conversation.

Ayano stared at her.
The longer she stared, the more [Name]'s nerves intensified.

"Um, I'm sorry if I offended you in any way—"
"Sure. Let's go."

And just like that, Ayano walked off to class. [Name] was quick to follow in her footsteps. She noticed that Ayano kept checking her phone a lot, but didn't think too much about it. Soon, [Name] was lost in her own daydream.
