"uhm...yeah we can put it here," joshua replied awkwardly as you started to set up the tent while he helped you.

you two were neighbours and since your parents knew each other, they signed you both up for a camping event for youths arranged by the community centre in your neighbourhood.

the facilitator put you and joshua together since you two knew each other, also because the other girls didn't want to share the same tent as a guy.

you thought it was kinda awkward at first, but you guys slowly warmed up to each other.

since you were supposed to pitch your own tent and make your dinner, you and joshua settled on a grassy patch further away from the rest as some peace and quiet would be nice.

"y/n! the ramen's almost done!" joshua called out, smiling at you. you got up from where you sitting at the edge of the lake and walked towards him.

"thank you for making dinner! i just finished pitching up the tent." "great!"

the air was filled with the delicious smell of ramen cooking, and you two enjoyed it as you chatted with each other.

the ramen was quickly finished as you patted your tummy and sighed in content. "this is one of the most satisfying things ever...eating hot food in a cold night, with the stars above you..." you muttered, gazing up at the beautiful night sky.

"and all that with a friend makes in ten times better," joshua added softly, his sparkling eyes curving into crescent shapes. "y-yeah..." you returned a smile as you blushed a little.

after you guys finished cleaning up, you noticed it was especially quiet as you realised almost everyone else at the campsite had already turned in for the night.

the chirping of crickets seemed to be accentuated, accompanied by the soft howling of wind whoosing against the trees. you felt calm and peaceful as you let the nature sounds fill your senses.

"hey..." a sweet and delicate voice quietly whispered in your ear, making you feel even more at ease. "yes, joshua?"

"well, i thought we could sit by the lake for a while and just relax?" he indicated towards the beautiful river that was illuminated by the bright moonlight. you nodded eagerly before dragging his arm towards the lake.

you two found a clean spot to sit down on and you just sat in silence. it wasn't awkward anymore, but rather a peaceful one. joshua was content to sit quietly by your side, enjoying your company as he stared into the distance with you.

it was just so beautiful; the soft, warm glow that came out from the small fire created a bright aura around it, giving off a homely feeling, the cold wind blowing gently at your face.

this was all you could ask for, some peace away from the noisy city life, and you were glad you could spend it with your good friend.

after a while of being lost in the view, you felt a weight on your shoulder, and you turned your head only to find joshua dozing off. his sudden action made you a little startled, but nonetheless you like it.

you admired with cute sleeping face, and unknowingly smiled to yourself. his gentle features were highlighted by the moonlight. his cute eyes, his long lashes, his boopy nose and his soft, pink lips.

your hand reached to his head, carefully stroking his brown hair. you caught a glimpse of him smiling as he relaxed into your touch. time went by as you let him sleep for a little longer, until his eyes slowly opened. "oh, you're awake," you were kinda sad at the lost of contact from his warmth but you smiled otherwise.

"yeah..." he slowly got up as realisation hit him. "oh my gosh, i'm so sorry, i fell asleep on your shoulder!" he quickly scrambled out of his position, an apologetic look on his face. "no, no it was fine...in fact you looked really cute," you giggled, making joshua's heart flutter ever so slightly.

he stood up, brushing the dirt of his pants. "well, we should turn in now, shouldn't we? it's quite late," he extended his arm, being the gentleman he is. "thank you," you smiled and took his arm and headed back to the tent.

before you lay down into your sleeping bag, joshua gave you a quick kiss on the cheek. "goodnight, y/n."

a smiled was plastered on your face as you softly replied, "goodnight, joshua."
and you fell asleep in each other's arms, a smile never leaving your face.
