you sighed and laid your head on the table, hoping you could get a few minutes of rest before class starts.

you were just about to enter dreamland when a deep yet gentle voice awoke you.

"hi, excuse me. may i sit here?" you looked up and met a very handsome guy, and you assumed he was a new student since you've never seen him before. "sure!" you moved your chair and he took a seat next to you.

"hi, my name is y/n! nice to meet you!" you decided to introduce yourself first since he looked so shy. "h-hi, i'm wonwoo." he said softly.

you smiled and nodded and got ready for class to begin.

something you found very weird though, was that your teacher did not introduce wonwoo to the class, but you decided to ignore.

soon it was recess, so you asked wonwoo if he would want to join you. he looked pretty relieved when you said that. you actually felt bad since wonwoo looked so shy and you came to realise he was probably the quiet, introverted type.

since you usually sat alone during recess, having wonwoo as company with you felt pretty nice.

he opened up a bit more to you, telling you more stuff about himself, and you found that he especially loves reading books.

you two were just discussing about a book you both read, when the school's bully, Jena, came to your table and started to mock you.

"look at her! she's talking to her imaginary friend again! i wonder what their name is now!" she snickered evilly and pointed at you.

you got a bit offended since wonwoo was right in front of you. she must be pretending not to see wonwoo. you thought.

"well excuse you because i have a friend named wonwoo sitting right in front of me! now if you please, LEAVE US ALONE!" you shouted and stood up, which scared Jena a little bit. she rolled her eyes one more time before sashaying away.

you huffed loudly before sitting down. "ugh, that girl! i'm so done with her!" you crossed your arms in anger.

"hey, it's okay...she's just probably pretending not to see me, that's all," wonwoo comforted. you smiled and recomposed yourself before continuing your conversation.

after a long day at school, you decided to walk with wonwoo back home so you headed out of the school gates with him.

although it was only a day after you met, you two felt like good friends as you were really comfortable around each other.

you suggested going to a café first for some food before heading back home, but wonwoo stopped in his tracks."what's the matter, wonwoo?"

"i-i must go now..." he mumbled. "oh? sure it's okay! we can go another time! where's your house? i can walk there with you!" you said happily.

"no, i mean...i must go, as in...well the truth is..." you looked at him curiously and wondered what he was going to say next.

"i am actually a spirit, and i couldn't go to the Light in peace because i had something unfinished here in Earth...but i didn't know what it was until i met you. i realised that before i died, i never made any friends in this school and i think that's what i never finished. when i came back, i was so worried no one could see me but you saw me, and you were so open and made friends with me. so i'm able to go now," he gave a small smile before looking at you.

you finally realised why no one else except you could see wonwoo. it took you some time to understand that you won't see him anymore, but you accepted the truth and told yourself to move forward.

"well, sometimes it's hard to differenciate the dead and real people. like one time i met a spirit named mingyu and he was my friend for a long time until he realised that his unfinished task was truly accepting and moving on from his ex," you gave a small laugh, hoping to lighten the mood.

"yeah, well um...i need to go," he smiled. "s-sure, go and do your thing."

"thank you for everything," he pecked your cheek before he slowly started disappearing.

he became a bright light and floated up towards the sky until it was beyond the clouds.

"i wish you a peaceful life ahead, my friend."
