you lived in a world where people had soulmates and everyone finds their soulmates in unique ways.

for some, they couldn't see their soulmates' favourite colour until they met their soulmates.

for the rest, they would smell their favourite scent whenever their soulmate comes near them.

for you, however, ever since your 18th birthday, you had a red string tied on your right pinky. the string seemed to connect you and your soulmate, but it was extremely long and you never saw the end of it.

a few of your friends had found their soulmates a few days ago, and you were getting increasingly impatient as you were already going to graduate university, and you have not found your soulmate for 3 years already.

"come on, y/n, cheer up! sooner or later you will definitely find your soulmate! i promise~" your best friend, Ji-Eun comforted you.

she was younger than you by a few months, and she was really bubbly and adorable despite her age. she has always been through the good and bad times with you no matter what.

"please? i don't like seeing you sad...it makes me unhappy." she pouted and clinged onto your arm.

you playfully rolled your eyes and let out a chuckle. "okay, fine. now how about some hamburgers for lunch?"

Ji-Eun immediately nodded and squealed in delight as she dragged you off the campus into a fast-food restaurant.

at the restaurant

"okay, so for you it's just a (your fave burger) and a Coke, right?" she looked so hyper you thought she was gonna burst from happiness.

"yes, but Ji-Eun please chill and breathe..." you mentally face-palmed. "i know this is your favourite food but please..."

"okay, i'm going to order the food now, bye~!" she ignored whatever you said and just dashed into the queue.

right then the doorbell chimed as a few more customers walked in. you didn't take much notice as it was lunch hour and the place was getting crowded.

you were just talking to yourself about how you were glad that you got seats until a group of handsome men walked past your table.

they had a strong aura which caused you to look up at them. as they walked by, something caught your eye.

you noticed the red string on your pinky was connected to someone else's pinky, and he was in that group of men that just came in.

you let out a silent gasp before immediately calming yourself down. since they sat at the table, it seems they won't be leaving anytime soon. you decided to wait till Ji-Eun came back so that you could tell her the great news.

Ji-Eun eventually came back with a tray of food as she sat on the opposite side, a smile plastered on her face.

you quickly caught her attention. "Ji-Eun!" you whisper-shouted. "Yes, Unnie?" "I think i found my soulmate! my red string is connected to his, and he is sitting over there!" you pointed to the table where the 5 men were sitting.

the moment she heard found my soulmate Ji-Eun went into esctacy and became hyper...again.

"omo! let's go then!" she exclaimed, standing up. "but i dunno how to approach them and i'm scared!"

she just rolled her eyes and huffed, "Unnie, this might the only moment you find your soulmate so get on with it! i'll follow you~" she just dragged you towards their table anyway.

it was only a few seconds before the two of you were standing in front of their table. they were either wearing masks or caps which didn't show much of their face, which you wondered why.

"hi, good afternoon! my friend, y/n here, thinks that her soulmate is among you guys!" Ji-Eun squealed all of a sudden. the guys all seemed shock before they turned to you.

one of them took of their mask and looked at the both of you. he was superbly handsome and he looked a bit foreign. "oh? really? may i know which one of us it might be?" he had a strong accent that really made your brain thinking.

they all sound and look so familiar.

"um..." you raised your pinky, and the red string clearly showed itself to connect to one of the guys sitting at the end of the table.

the guy looked super shocked himself and stood up in excitement. "i found i soulmate! i found my soulmate!" he came out towards you and hugged you tightly. "i can't believe it! i found my soulmate!" you giggled lightly and hugged him back.

you pulled away soon after and looked at him. "so...what's your name?" you asked, curious how he looked under the hat he was wearing. he took it off and bowed. "hi, i'm Boo Seungkwan!" and you're y/n, right!"

"y-yeah...i'm so glad i found you! i've been waiting for years for this to happen!" you looked at Ji-Eun who was already tearing up.

but his name and how he looks like really got you thinking hard.

suddenly, you remembered.

they were the vocal unit of Seventeen, which means that your soulmate is a member of a K-Pop group.

wow.

sorry i wasn't really sure how to end the story so i thought the ending should be pretty funny. sorry no part 2 tho!
