8| The midnight duel

"Harry, what happened?" Miley rushed to him. Care of Magical Creatures just ended and she was 20 minutes late but the Professor didn't notice she came in late.

"I'm a seeker for something called quidditch," he grinned.

"Blimey Harry!" Fred and George said from behind Miley.

"He's the youngest player to join in a century!" George added. 

"I don't know how to play though," his grin turned into a frown.

"We'll teach you," Ron said and the twins nodded.

"Yeah- we're on the team," Fred said pointing at himself and George. 

"Just be safe- it can get... nasty," Miley said remembering the times the twins, Katie, Alicia, and Angelina got hurt.

"I will- stop worrying," he said but gave her a smile to show her he wasn't annoyed.

"Don't tell anyone though- Wood wants to keep it a secret," Harry said in a low voice to Miley and the twins.

"Wait till Malfoy hears this," Ron chuckled and the two of them went off to the Gryffindor common room with Miley and the twins behind them. 

"He just to keep it a secret I-" Miley shook her head.

"Having a last meal, Potter? When are you getting the train back to the Muggles?" Malfoys cold voice said from behind Harry. Miley looked up from her book and she and the boy made eye contact.

"You too- Ms. Potter," Flint said from behind her.

"You just love stalking me, don't you?" Miley said sweetly and Harry almost choked on his food.

He was surprised Miley could talk back.

"Your a lot braver now that you're back on the ground and you've got your little friends with you," Harry said coolly to Malfoy and the two large boys next to him.

"I could take you on anytime on my own," Malfoy said with an eye roll. "Tonight, if you insist. Wizard's duel- wands only- no contact. What's the matter? Never heard of a wizard's duel before, I suppose," he teased.

Miley knew something bad was about to happen but before she could stop it...

"Of course he has," Ron said and Miley and George exchanged strained looks.

"I'm his second, who's yours?" he added and Miley wanted to rip Ron's hair out.

He might look adorable and innocent but he has a big mouth.

"Crabbe- midnight all right? We'll meet you in the trophy rooms. That's always unlocked," he said and left with Crabbe and Goyle.

"What's a wizard's duel- and what's a second?" Harry said immediately in a low voice.

"We're gonna get expelled," Miley said with a groan.

"We have to stop him," Miley said to the twins. Breakfast was over and they were heading to Charms.

"Don't worry about it. Fred and I'll cook something up," George said with a wink.

Miley felt assured but that didn't take her mind off it.

"We'll just have to follow him to make sure he doesn't get caught- and Ron of course," Miley whispered to them.

They were making their pillows fly into boxes and Miley already finished her stack.

"Ok, but we can't get caught either. George and I need to make sure we save our detentions for other reasons," Fred said coolly, sending his pillow into a box.

"Divination sucks," George sighed when they entered the Gryffindor common room. They just finished their first lesson of Divination and Miley thought it was terrible.

Professor Trelawny kept predicting Miley's- and Harry's- death which angered her but she kept her cool. Every time Miley would look into her crystal ball- Trelawny would cast her a grimace. 

"Forget about that- we need to follow Harry and Ron," Miley said and just as she said it, Harry and Ron entered the common room.

Hermione got up from her chair and told the boys something. Miley couldn't hear what she was saying but it sounded like she was warning the boys. Maybe she heard about the duel and was telling them to stop.

"Did they listen to you?" Miley asked Hermione before she went to "sleep".

"No," Hermione said with a frown.

"Then they'll have to listen to me," Miley said to herself.

It was midnight and Miley made sure to not wake the girls while she got up. She had her wand with her just in case and told the twins before to have theirs with them as well.

"Ready?" she asked them. They had to wait 5 minutes before entering the common room.

"Neville and Hermione went with them too," Fred whispered to Miley as they exited.

"Well we'll have to save their butts too," Miley gritted her teeth to show her annoyance.

"Of course my brother had to be stubborn," she muttered.

"I solemnly swear I am up to no good," George said and tapped the parchment.

"Good thinking," Miley said to him & he handed her the map.

"I don't see him- I see Filch though," Miley said examining the map.

"Show Harry Potter," Fred whispered, tapping the parchment and Harry's name appeared on the map.

It was close to Miley's and the twins.

"They're nearby," Miley whispered and they followed the map making sure not to run into anyone.

"Oh, no Filch is going to them," Fred said pointing at the map. Sure enough, the nosy caretaker was headed towards Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Neville.

"We've got to make some noises," Miley said thinking of good distractions.

"Good thing your friends with the right Weasleys," Fred said winking at her.

Before she could as what he was going to do, he and George drew out their wands and cast mayhem.

"Should be good enough, now let's run back," Miley said and they ran off.
