So in this at Jyugo's mother was a gem. She was a rose quartz. Yet, she wasn't the Rose quartz, leader of the crystal gems. Instead she was a Rose Quartz that escaped the purge and hid amount humans for years. Eventually this resulted in her commuting a few crimes over the years. One of which ended with her in jail back in the early 2000's wheee she met jyugos dad.
The two fell in love, and eventually had a child together. Yet, like most gems who have human children, his mother died having him. Of course he's born in jail, but well, Jyugos dad is rushed out as soon as his women dies. He's told jyugo died during the birth as well so as far as he knows he lost his whole family in five minutes. So he mourns as much as he can before escaping from jail and being force to mourn a whole family on his own.
Meanwhile jyugo is actually alive. He survived but when his mother died, her more alien qualities were show. So they knew jyugo was a alien. Of course made into a test subject for years in every jail ever.
Time passed and his weapon is revealed to be his hands. When he got angry instead of summons a weapon from his gem, his gem would create sharp knifes/swords on his hands. That's right, he's got knife hands. Because his limbs are literal weapons, he hasn't been put in a cell with anyone for years. That is until a new man is put onto Jyugo's case and jail time, Hanji.
In this AU Hanji is a high class area 59 operative, who was once a prison guard. A prison guard who was the only one present when Jyugo's dad eventually escape jail.
Upon see jyugo, he knows instantly this is his child, who has been dead for 13 years now. Once he realizes this it hits him this child has been locked in a jail cell, no friend, no family for so long while his real family never even got the chance to look at him.
This is the point where Hanji starts arguing they should introduce Jyugo to society. It takes two year, but the government soon agree to let him live on a controlled base where Hanji can watch him. This ends up being a escapable jail where Jyugo's father escaped from. Once there the rest his history, he's put into cell 13 with his friends where he learns more about society and life with Hanji keeping an eye out for him whilst also looking for his father to share the truth about his sons fate.
