"Truth be told, I have some regrets..." You said nervously.
"What are you talking about? I can't see you having regrets. You're such a cheerful guy... what's wrong?" Lisbeth asked with an empathetic look.
"It has to do with SAO... why I avoid guilds..." You replied seriously.
"But you already told me why. You prefer to avoid it since your other guild disbanded." She replied seriously.
"We've all suffered loss in SAO, one way or another. My old guild disbanding was just a cover story. What happened was this: It all started with the Ark Raiders, a small guild consisting of my late girlfriend IRL, and four of my best friends IRL. We were doing some easy levelling on low level dungeons on floor seventeen, it was just after Kirito opened up floor thirty one. We encountered a forest dungeon...
"Hey guys! Check it out! It's a hidden room!" Juno said excitedly.
"I think we should avoid it. It may be a trap." You said seriously.
"No, it will be fine!" Clyde replied confidently.
As Juno, Eclipse, Clyde, Dawn, and Rachael entered the room, an immortal object shut you off from them as the room lit up a deep, blood red.
"Open the door!!" Juno screamed.
"I'm trying!" You panicked, striking the window with your sword until it broke.
"Help us!!" She screamed.
"Juno!! Clyde!! I'm trying!! I swear I'm trying!!" You screamed in a panic as you watched your girlfriend and your friends get slaughtered.
"I... love you..." Juno muttered in her dying breaths as she accepted her fate.
And that's the story of the Ark Raiders. And the first time I came to you for a new sword." You said with a sunken expression as the memories flooded back to you.
The look on Lisbeths face showed that she was haunted by the story, and how you failed to save your friends the first time.
"Well... you don't have to worry about me! I'm not going to die! I'm going to make it out alive, and we're going to become friends in the real world! And we're going to have plenty of fun times! You, me, Kirito, Asuna, all of us are going to make it out alive and we are going to meet up at the Dicey Cafe, and have a good laugh together in the real world! Promise me that!" Lisbeth said confidently, tears streaming down her face as she tried to suppress her emotions.
You remained silent for a few moments as you let her words sink in.
"I promise." You said seriously. "I promise I'll protect you, and the others!" You said with conviction as you and her moved above the cave, sitting down on the ceiling as the sun set.
"So, I take it we'll be spending the night here?" She asked as things calmed down a bit.
"Yeah... it's too dangerous to move at night, especially at a low level like us.
Just then, an update screen appeared:
