Now that may be the reason another body is in my shop. It also may be the reason why he's calling me to where she was last. Bloody hell! I mean it's like entertainment and freedom all in one! Oh I'm so stupid! That's one thing I didn't pick up on, I mean come on, it was THAT obvious that the INSPECTOR had to point it out for me... I must really be losing my detective touch.I lowered my eyes to the panels on the floor and clenched my jaw. This was serious! He could know everything about me and I'm just following along right into the mouth of the lion. My mind started to become numb. This was stupid. But I was going to play his game, I was going to play it my way!
"No Lilly!"
Ey! I didn't say any of that aloud did I? I creased my brows in confusion.
"Lilly, I AM an Inspector. Give me some credit for my personal profiling skills. You don't exactly hide your emotions very well. You are not going into this case, I don't know what you're thinking it's just not happening-" He raised his hands as if that was going to stop me from speaking. "- you can go home and eat, or sleep or sit there and watch shit on TV for all I care but you are not leaving your apartment and that is final!"
"What do you think I am? A dog?! I'm not going to sit still and listen to get a pat on the head, you can take your damn final and shove it up you know where!" I sneered. Standing up, I stomped over to the front desk and roughly snatched my phone up, turning to look at him. He was standing their with his eyes wide in shock at my incredibly rude language. My aunt would be appalled... she would've received the same effect with brutality laced within each graceful word.
He openly stared at me and raised his hands in anger to his head, "What are YOU?! You're thick Lilly, if I'm going to let you loose when I clearly know your just going to ignore my warning. I'm putting you under the protection of the police. From now on, you'll be escorted everywhere and you'll have officers posted outside your door and your hotel. You are not moving a muscle without me knowing about it!"
His eyes were huge and his face had slightly started to become a shade of red from the anger I was fuelling into him. Why not just tip him over the edge right?
Closing my eyes, I smiled sweetly and chuckled under my breath. Spinning around the desk, I picked up my discarded jacket and glanced back at him, "Clear this mess up will you doll, can't trust the help these days, they all just-" I smirked curling my hand in the air, "-seem to run away."
Despite my confident wink as the Inspectors hands balled into fists, my heart was beating like 20 billion fireworks were all sparking off at the same time. Can't wait to watch that play back on the tapes.
Confidently striding out the door and past the gate, I began my walk home in the pouring rain. I wanted to think. Clearly, I wasn't going to be able to go to the last place she was. He will have me guarded like some bloody vicious animal, I needed to think of another plan.
Well where even was she last? I mean technically, she was on the roof of that building last, even if I wasn't being tracked down I wouldn't be able to get all the way up there without being caught by Inspector Moody Arse!
What does the note say again? Reaching into my bra in the middle of the day in public, I started groping around for the note. Bloody hell, how far did it go down?!
Ah wait, got it! I raised my hand over my eyes and held the note under my sheltering hand. So it says Not the roof Lilly! Before that. Wait what? That's not what it said? How did the killer get another note into my bloody bra without noticing?! Yeah maybe not, I gritted my teeth, it's double sided Lilly. So assuming I read it right in the first place, he said 'What are you waiting for? You want to play detective, go ahead. I don't want you to give up too Easily. Where was your victim Last? You can try but you won't ever catch me!'
And then I was supposedly going to turn it over and read 'Not the roof Lilly! Before that.'
Why didn't he put turn over at the bottom corner. For God's sake, if he can figure out I'm not too bright sometimes, he could've at least anticipated that I probably wouldn't turn over the note. I wonder if the other notes had something on the back too?
Before I could ponder on the thought anymore, I heard sirens closing in. Great, just what I needed(!)
"Get in before I make you Miss Carlton!" He didn't meet my eyes, continuing to look forward into the road, I winced at his angered expression. Not the moment to mess around with him. I scrunched the note and pushed it up my jacket sleeve. Slipping into the front seat of the car, he didn't start the engine. He continued clenching his oh so defined jaw. I raised my eyebrow until realisation struck. I widened my eyes and pulled the seatbelt round my body, clipping it in and bumped my back against the seat in exaggeration.
Still waiting for him to start the car, I raised my hands in frustration! "WHAT! What is it?!" I asked exasperatedly. As much as I loved looking at his side profile, I'd rather just find that first note. Curiosity comes first, then eye-candy shopping.
"You're not my colleague, neither are you my friend. At this moment you are a suspect. You will sit in the backseat of my car." He said without taking a glance at me.
"Yes, that may be the case but you have a nice yet very stubborn suspect who will just carry on walking unless you leave me be!" I blinked, inching my neck forward waiting for a response.
He ran his tongue over his teeth and met my gaze, interlocking his fingers together and leaning back slightly, like he was going to get comfortable while he waited for me to move.
I shrugged my shoulders and moved. I moved out of the car completely and started walking back in the rain down the street leaving the door open just for fun. I heard him shout my name and then a slam of the door. He had his window rolled down as he cruised beside me. Grumbling he mumbled "Fine Lilly, you can sit in the front. Just get in the car."
"No" I said matter of fact, smiling. "Come join me if you really wanna drop me off"
"Actually it's more of a case of making sure you don't detour."
I pursed my lips, "Your gonna eventually have to stop when traffic beeps its horn at you and swears."
"Yeah well, as long as I've got these on-" He switched his flashing lights on "-There's no problem." He stated.
I dodged his curveball and threw back my own "Well, I'll just ring the police department and say that some Police Officer is misusing his authority in traffic and slowing it down just to get what looks like a girl to come in the car with him" I crossed my arms and looked at him. He stopped the car, but sat still. I shook my head and continued walking.
I didn't care what he did, I loved the rain and I didn't have a problem walking in it. Next thing I know, the rain stops falling on my already drenched curls. I look up and a huge umbrella comes an inch over my shoulder, turning my head to the side, my eyes meet a raindrop splattered suit and a very displeased Inspector.
I bit my lip and laughed at him. He however, did not find me humorous. He simply kept striding forward, not saying a word.
