When I woke up I found myself back in my room as if nothing had happened. Nothing seemed to be abnormal either but the memory of the night before still lingered in my mind restlessly. Questions flooded my mind and in remembrance of yesterday fear reappeared clouding my senses once again. But this time I was at home, at a place that I recognized as my own - Where I felt secure. As I slowly realized that I wasn't in danger anymore my mind cleared up - enough for me to recognize the warm strays of sunlight that enlightened my face and lower body. I brushed the curtain aside and embraced the warmth coming with the full array of sunlight.
For a moment I had forgotten about the day before and felt strangely happy for the first time in years. Thought it didn't last long as the doorbell resounded within the apartment which brought me back to reality – much to my dislike.
Not really motivated about opening the door and having to greet whoever stands behind it, I slowly, very slowly set my feet in motion. Out of reflex my feet lead me towards the door and when I finally reach it I move my hands towards the doorknob.
A sudden realization hit me and I hesitate. What if it is the guy from yesterday had chased me as far as to my home only to greet me in the morning with a knife in hand? But in the end rationality wins over fear and I give in to the temptation of opening the door in order to find out who stands behind it.
When the door opens far enough for me to see who had jingled I am partly disappointed but also reassured that mentioned mysteries person was not behind it. Instead I come across a small girl wearing my school's uniform.
A warm smile caresses her tender features. I scowl when i see the file she holds under her arm marked with a red stamp which represents our schools logo. But the scowl goes unnoticed when she invites herself in smiling and half jumping out of joy.
Where the latter finds it's source I can only imagine but I will certainly find it out soon enough.
