Amelia-

The evening ended with a great feast, and we were led to the common room.

You couldn't mistake it for any other house. It was full of scarlet red; scarlet chairs, scarlet tapestries, and scarlet carpet. At the entry of the common room was a portrait of a lady. I was taken aback when I saw the portraits moving, apparently this is quite normal in the Wizarding World.

I sat with Harry and Ron by this warm fire place that was in the middle of the wall, surrounding were three sofas. Harry and I were explaining the muggle world to Ron, apparently his Father is very fascinated by our world.

"So, tell me again, how does a... a tele..." Ron furrowed his eyebrows as he clicked his fingers trying to remember some of the names and objects.

"A television." I reminded him

"Yes, that. How does it work"

"I wish I knew, but its basically a screen that plays movies and shows."

"So, it uses magic? To get the image on this screen?" Ron's head perked up as he tried to make sense of everything he was hearing.

"No.. Nothing I do uses magic." I giggled at Ron's comment.

"I give up!" Ron fell back on the couch sighing. It was getting pretty late, so I didn't blame him for being overwhelmed.

It was the first day of classes, and my first was charms. Luckily, we had Fred – Ron's brother to take Ron and I to the charms room.

Ron and I found that we had a few classes together, which I was forever grateful for. We had charms, transfiguration, potions, and defense against the dark arts together. The rest, I was alone for.

Even after exploring the castle over the weekend, we still couldn't even find our common room without getting lost. I still think Fred and George have some sort of map they secretly use when they say, "you'll learn!".

I didn't know what to expect from my first class. Apparently it's not like muggle school. To make matters worse, I knew nothing about magic. Most of the students here either have siblings, come from a long blood line of wizards and witches, or just spent their summer studying. I have none.

Ron and I eventually made it to charms class, just in time. We walked in and found seats that were discrete enough in case we need to answer any questions. Seems that Ron also wasn't too confident in charms either.

The classes were rather uneventful. They were mainly introductory lessons to the class. None the less – we were assigned homework.

It was now break, and we were outside making most of the warm weather.

Harry brought a girl who we met on the train to sit with us, Hermione Granger. The four of us discussed our first couple of classes as Hermione was finishing off her study.

I laid down on the green grass, enjoying the heat and trying to milk the last bit of sun to extend my golden tan as much as possible. I felt the hot air burn my cheeks ever so slightly. I had always enjoyed the hot weather the most; don't get me wrong, I love winter and the snow, but there's something about the sun, the birds and the warm weather that brings me joy.

"How do you not get burnt just lying there in the sun?" said Hermione, still not looking up from her textbook.

I propped my elbows up and lifted my self off the ground. "Not sure, I never really have. My parents were always a little jealous when we would go on holidays, and they would get burnt just thinking about the sun let alone actually going outside. I've always seemed to maintain an olive tone."
