Dawn arose timidly, the sun cowering beneath blankets of the cloud. Mist swathed the ruins and forests, formulating dew drops on the delicate lifeforms. The sky was tinted a rosy pink, along with hints of yellow, orange and blue. Streaks of the night still clung desperately to the lightened sky, afraid to be banished by the sacred morning - where everything starts anew.

Chirps of birds and rustling of smaller animals shooed away the silence. In its place was a lively sanctuary for nature, thriving and undisturbed amongst the rubbles that had once tormented them.

Light filtered through the dusty cracked windows of the skyscraper. It reflected off bits of glass scattered across the floor, twinkling like the finest diamonds of jewelry.

Such shimmer pierced through Dream's yet to be awakened mind, shooing away his sleepiness and allowing the consciousness to settle back in. He rubbed his sleep-filled eyes with fatigue, blindly feeling around for his axe before realizing that it lay lopsided across his lap. It has become a habit, really, to grab at his weapon the second he awoke. Too many years of living in a post-apocalyptic world, he assumed. Sitting up straighter, Dream surveyed the area around him with eyes still heavy from exhaustion. Nothing seemed out of place, yet he does not trust such an undisturbed morning. He has never trusted them before, knowing all too well what could happen if he let his guard down.

Emerald green eyes found their way across the office floor and settled on the two other figures. The taller of the two was sprawled across their makeshift bed, constructed carelessly out of chair cushions and moldy curtains. Their arm rested easily across their eyes, presumably to shield their eyes from the morning sun. Tufts of raven black hair were tousled by the crisp dawn breeze, of which also elicited a slight, subconscious shiver from the young man. It has gotten so much colder than preferred for all of them.

The taller male groaned lightly before rolling over, brows knitted and still fast asleep.

Sparing a glance at the shorter of the two, a brunet - Dream decided to rouse them for the day. He wanted to head out in the city today, to scavenge for food. Their stock was getting dangerously low, and the blond man certainly did not want to feast off of tree roots and half spoiled soup again. It was an utter mess back then when Dream and Sapnap were just travelling on their own. At first, neither dared to put their trust in the other. It resulted in a lot of dissents that could have been otherwise avoided, had they compromised sooner. Though honestly, neither Dream nor Sapnap was the type to back down from an argument.

Dream stood up slowly, cringing at the sound of his bones cracking and shifting from a long time of disuse. He stretched out a fair amount, till his muscles and bones were satisfied and no longer screamed in protest from exertion. He then picked up his trusty raven war axe, swinging it around for his daily 'practice'. Or rather that's what he called it. To be frank, Dream just liked to feel the handle of his sturdily made axe threatening to escape his iron grip every time he swung it in a lethal manner.

Striding over to the short brunet, who slept the nearest to him, he bent down and shook him by the shoulders neither too rough nor too gentle. Just enough to rouse him from his deep slumber, to see his eyelids flutter and his pure irises exposed to sunlight a sliver. George's lashes fluttered delicately, framing his eyes in such a way that Dream paused just to admire those beautiful orbs.

His lashes were long, throwing off bits of light as they almost flawlessly adorn his upper and lower eyelids, fanning out around those crystal blue irises. They were as clear as the shallow ocean, a light cerulean that darkened to sapphire as it rimmed the edge. Flecks of gold and black were scattered about in the ocean of his eyes, reminiscent of the different tropical fish that carelessly played about within the vast wonders.
