Laughter filled the air with its beautiful and clear sound. Snow drifted down in its magical powdery form, gathering into fluffy white heaps that blanketed the ugly barren soil. The small garden that Dr. Soot used to tend to is now covered in sparkly white, along with small trails of footprints littered everywhere. A young Tommy and Tubbo pushed and heaved at a large snowball, attempting to make it bigger and bigger. Although slightly exhausted and cold from all the work, they were excited and determined to build the largest snowman in existence.
"Grayson, join us in building a snowman!" Tubbo called out, laughing and whooping excitedly as the height of the snowball exceeded both of their height.
"I'll just watch." Purpled, clad in a white and violet coat, sat on the ledge of the garden with a mug filled with hot chocolate in his hands. "Also, you guys are ruining the beauty of the snow!" He called out unhappily.
"It doesn't matter! We're building the biggest snowman in humankind!" Tommy retorted, tossing an unsatisfied glance at Purpled. "You have no room to judge - you're not even helping!"
Dr. Soot stood idly with his back against the concrete walls of the complex. A lingering, warm smile adorned his kind features. "Don't hurt yourself, boys. Else Councillor Eret will murder me."
"It's fine, Dr. Soot!" Tubbo promised with a hearty, mischievous laugh. "I swear on god that we won't!"
Dr. Soot chuckled at their antics. "Alright, alright. Don't break that promise."
----------
The snowman took the entirety of the afternoon. When it was done, the sky had morphed into a stunning sunset, the warm tones overlaying everything it touches. The sunlight gilded the snow in an incandescent hue, creating a peaceful nonetheless comforting atmosphere under the fiery sunset.
The three boys settled onto a spot on the garden ledge, proudly gazing at their snowman of which took more than a few hours to create. Dr. Soot had gone back for his studies, so it was just the three of them outside.
Tommy picked up a handful of snow, absent-mindedly shaping it into a small snowball. "I'm tired.."
Purpled snickered. "Remind me why you were pointlessly building a snowman again?"
Both Tommy and Tubbo glared at him indignantly. "Shut up!"
The person in question burst out in laughter. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry. I apologize - don't be mad at me."
"I hate you." Tubbo's voice was lighthearted despite his small pout.
"Ehhh? Don't hate me - we're the bestest of friends!" Purpled responded with an equally lighthearted pout. "We swore to always be there for each other, didn't we? We'll always be the closest bunch!"
...Till death does us apart.
It was such a small thing, really.
I've even forgot about it - the vow we made.
But now that the more I think of it, the more it hurts.
Like a burning hole through my heart.
Like an electric shock through my flesh.
Like the pain of missing, of longing.
....
I guess it was too much to hope for.
Where do I go now? Now that I know the truth?
