Chapter 2: Green Letter

Leo pov
I look at Mikey, covered in egg yolk. sighing, I pinch the bridge of my nose. Why do I always need to scold someone every morning?! I've become less of a leader and more of a mom at this point. There was egg yolk everywhere! I told him not to do it, I really tried, but when has anyone ever listened to me.
"Mikey, clean up this mess!" I sternly expressed, pointing at the four cracked eggs scattered on the ground. Their insides leaking onto the floor, like sad gooey tears. "There's egg yolk all over the floor!"
Doesn't he know how hard it is for April to get us groceries without looking suspicious. She even runs late to class to get us these groceries and here they are, on the floor. Such a waste. He shrinks at my stern remark. I grab the mop from beside the counter and shove it into his right hand.
"now." I step back a few feet to watch him carefully. I'm not letting him miss a single spot. He whines as he dunks the mop into the bucket.
"S-sorry Leo, I'll get to it…"
Although I feel like I'm in the right, I feel a little bad for yelling at him. Mikey's been so energetic since he woke up, I guess he just wanted to keep himself busy. Busy…that gives me a great idea.
I walk up to Mikey with a grin. He looks at me suspiciously as he continues mopping.
"Here to tell me I missed a spot?"
"No. I'm here to give you a proposition." I kneel on the counter and lift one of my legs up so Mikey can continue his mopping.
"A proposition?"
"Yup. As an apology and punishment for the mess you made this morning,"
Mikey's face shifts nervously with the word punishment.
"how about you…" I shift my weight on the counter so I can whisper into Mikey's ear. Covering my mouth so Donnie couldn't see.
Mikey's eyes glow up. "Really!" He nearly drops the mop as he bounces in excitement. "I can do that! Easy!"
"Shhh." I laugh. "Don't give it away."
Mikey covers his mouth and giggles to himself. "Oh! Sorry!"
Mikey finishes cleaning and skips to the leaving room to bother Raph. I sigh, rubbing the back of my neck. I've officially hit mother territory.

Donnie pov
I head back into the lab. I still have a big mess to clean. I open the doors and begin my cleaning. I grab handfuls of crumpled paper and throw them in the trash. I pick up all my tools and bolts and put them in my tool box. Each tool is placed in their respective spots, fitting the shaped cavities perfectly.

I glance at my not-so-finished invention. "This is probably not going to work." I thought to myself while putting it away in a big box I put my rejects in, as sad as that sounds. I was almost done when suddenly I caught something in the corner of my eye. I got a closer look and it was another crumpled piece of paper. I thought I threw them all away. This one was different, this one was green.

I don't remember having green paper... I opened up the crumpled paper and it had strange letters written all over it.

"What the..."

Suddenly my memory began to spark.
"Oh, wait. This...this is what one of the kraang droids dropped when we were fighting. It was desperate to get it back but...Raph got to it before I could understand why." I thought for a second, the droid also said something before Raph...smashed it. "What was it?...you'll... 'you'll regret this' or 'death is upon us all' or something...It was probably gibberish."

Why was it crumbled though? Was this one of Mikey's stupid jokes? I probed.

But it couldn't have been. Mikey's pranks are way too... out there, and It didn't have his colorful handwriting. This couldn't have been Leo, he doesn't do pranks. Definitely wasn't Raph's...caveman handwriting.

Ugh! Why was my memory so blurry?

"Donnie!"

Raph's voice quickly snaps me out of my trance.

"Come on, we don't have all day!"

"C-coming!" I scramble to grab my bo staff and belt.

I will deal with this later. I place the green letter onto my still messy table before I run and catch up with the others.
