cedric diggory could hear laugher from his shared room. a room he often found himself in, he enjoyed being alone. not many people knew that though. usually people were in the yellow sheeted beds around him but not this afternoon.

cedric also could easily collect who the laughs belonged to. he knew that the group of girls and edmund were usually goofing around in the common room. should he report people of opposite houses in the hufflepuff common room? yes. would he? probably not.

he quickly peeped at the white clock that hung on the tan wall and quickly grabbed his coat. the quidditch game started soon and he knew he was going to want a decent seat to see the first slytherin vs gryffindor game of the year.

the laughter got louder and louder as cedric walked down the stairs. he watched as the natural light from the common room flooded into the stairwell. as he got closer, the laughs began to die down.

the group was already looking at cedric diggory as he stepped off the last step, he watched as they all whipped their head around like he was some sort of murderer. but as soon as they could make out his face, a smile flashed across all of their cheeks.

"diggory!" edmund had a strong tone in his voice as he walked towards cedric. cedric stuck his hand out and edmund firmly gripped it with a large smile. he was happy to see his new friend and he was happy his new friend was excited to see him.

"she still doesn't know." edmund leaned forward and lowered his voice, breaking the eye contact they held and glancing at cedrics grey pullover. cedric had forgotten about the amortenia situation for a few minutes since he walked down. which was rare because non-stop cedric had been thinking about it.

"thank you, edmund." cedric whispered back. he was quite thankful that edmund was such an amazing friend.

"i still don't know what she smelt, but i'm going to get answers." edmund smiled cheekily to cedric. cedric was kind of disappointed with this but he was thankful edmund sounded like he wanted athena to have smelt cedric's scent. cedric took this as some sort of blessing but wasn't going to count on it.

edmund turned around and faced the three girls once again. as soon as he did this, cedric allowed his eyes to go directly to athena's brown ones. she had a large smile planted on her face and better yet, she was already looking at cedric. he couldn't hold back the smile that brightened as they held contact.

"hi girls, how is your day going today?" cedric follows behind edmund and sits down next to him on a yellow loveseat. cedric was always kind and was known for asking everyone about their day. but he genuinely wanted to know if athena was happy today. he wanted her to be happy every day.

"good!" belle was chipper in her voice and as soon as she spoke, she had started to gather the books spread around her. her blonde hair fell into her face as she leaned down, but she seemed to be in some sort of rush.

"splendid, cedric." ivy replied before standing up off the yellow couch. she had a black bag beside her and swung it around her shoulder. "are you headed to the quidditch game?"

"yes ma'am, i was about to go right before i saw you all." cedric smiled warmly to the black-haired girl who spoke with pure confidence, always. her dark hair fell across her shoulders neatly.

"perfect. care to sit with us at the game then?" ivy had a large smirk across her glossied lips. cedric felt like this was somewhat bold for her to ask, but he tried not to show how surprised he was. yes, he would consider himself friends with the group, but not enough to hang out outside of class. cedric tried not to think much of the polite invite.
