A/N: A take on how Harry could have proposed Ginny . Based on Harry's creativity to ask the love of his life to be his life partner.
Harry Potter was nervous as to what she would say. He was confused as to how he was going to do it. He was feeling all the emotions at the same time, which one was surely to feel if he were about to propose the love of his life. The chattering crowd around him at Diagon Alley had disappeared as he fidgeted with a small velvet box which he had pocketed from his vault .
Anyone else who didn't know Ginny well ,would have picked one of the more lavish rings for her. But Harry knew her better than herself and had chosen the perfect ring for her. It was a simple, yet elegant ring with an emerald and a couple of small diamonds on it's either side placed upon a thin silver band. It had last been worn by his grandmother and was kind of a family heirloom.
As he was thinking about how to propose Ginny, he came up with a wonderful , mischievous idea which would leave Ginny gobsmacked . With that in mind, he apparated home with a smirk on his face.
That evening was a normal affair. As usual, Arthur was at the ministry and would be returning a bit late due to an extra shift. The four Weasley brothers, Ginny, Harry and Hermione were sitting and chatting in the lounge.Bill and Fleur had arrived for the family dinner, the latter being in the kitchen with Molly. Harry figured it was the best time to do it as all were busy with their own work. Fred and George( yes, Fred is alive! I didn't have the heart to kill him :-) ) were discussing about their latest joke. Bill and Ron were having a heated discussion about the upcoming quidditch match between the Puddlemere United and Chudley Canons. Hermione was curled up against Ron, reading a book. Harry squeezed Ginny's hand, which was in his, as they cuddled on the love seat near the fire and chatted softly. Harry subtly tilted his head towards the back door when she looked up at him. They sneaked out quietly, and luckily enough, no one noticed.
They walked over to the pond in a comfortable silence, arms wrapped around each other. When they reached the pond, Harry wrapped both of his arms around Ginny, pulling her close and she retrieved her arms from around his waist, only to splay them on his chest.
"What is it Harry? Something has been bothering you all day long. I know it." said Ginny as they stared deep into each other's eyes. "I can't hide anything from you, can I?" said Harry as he let out a nervous laugh. " No, now come on, tell me already!" said Ginny, smiling up at him.
" Alright, well, you see," began Harry, with a sad look on his face as he released her, " our relationship so far has been good, no, amazing and all, but ...... I think I don't want to be in such a relationship with you. In other words, I don't want you to be my girlfriend anymore." finished Harry softly, his eyes downcast.
