A few days had passed and Optimus was already trying to change things. He had not only stretched the grounding time to when he decided, he also was tried to keep me from picking up (y/n). The excuses he made weren't bad either. Telling me to stay back and continue the projects, make sure to guard the bridge in case of emergencies, stay in my station in case of mission implications, blah, blah, blah. But each excuse was met with an equally if not stronger case. (Y/n) needed protection more than they needed me there 24/7.

Arcee seemed to be my biggest ally here. Always standing up for me and reminding Optimus the main reason I was picking her up in the first place. (Y/n) wasn't like any of us; she wasn't made of metal, wasn't a cybertronian, wasn't taught to defend herself. She is a kid. Optimus seemed reluctant each time but let me off. This day wasn't any different.

"Alright, I'm off. See to it that the bridge is guarded." Arcee nodded and got into position. The team seemed to be well off without me. Silently, I text (y/n) a message, telling her I would be there to pick her up soon. She texted back a small happy face. The small messages leaving me with a smile on my dermas.

But, plans seemed to change. Optimus walked over and placed a servo on my shoulder pad, stopping me in my tracks. His optics gazing down on me with a emotion that seemed hidden at the moment, unreadable.

"Please, old friend. She is my charge. I will pick her up today. You are needed back here than out there." Finally! It only took a few days and several pick up's to push him just right. I raise my optic ridge, looking up at him with a feigned worry held in my optics.

"Are you sure? It will take no time to take her home."

"I am sure. And while I am out, please, allow your charges back in. The ban has been lifted." The atmosphere immediately lightened up. Bulk and Bee especially happy to know that their charges will be brought back to the base after a long time of being grounded. Or what they felt like was a long time.

"Alright. I'll go back to my station." Without a second glance, I turn on my pedes and face the console again. Arcee winking over at me with a triumphant smile. The grin spread on my dermas, satisfied with the outcome of our little scheme. Optimus quickly transformed and drove away, ready to pick (Y/n) up. This would be a lovely surprise for her.

- (Y/n) -

The wind breezed through my hair, allowing me comfort in knowing that the day was going smoother than I thought. Work wasn't bad. I had a few bad customers getting mad that I wasn't fast enough to help them but it worked out in the end. My RSD wasn't flaring up as badly as it was a few days ago. The memory of Optimus yelling at me still making me tear up at the thought. Yelling was never something I liked.

I look over at my phone, seeing the glowing numbers glare at me. Weird. It had been forty minutes since Ratchet sent me the message that he was picking me up. What was holding him? Did a Decepticon attack him!? Worry filled me at the thought of the medic getting ambushed coming to pick me up. Oh god, maybe I was bad luck and a distraction. Sighing out, I try to shake the impending feeling of shame from growing bigger than it was.
