"Melissa, wake up!" I heard my dad call from his room.
I awoke with a start and began looking
for clean clothes to wear. I wanted to look good for my first day at a new school. I took a shower, taking up a majority of the hot water. I got into trouble more often than not because of it. I also got into trouble for singing in the shower.
After my shower, I quickly got dressed and did my hair. Today, I decided to straighten my hair. I then ate breakfast. Dad made French toast and bacon. It was going to be a big day for both of us. After breakfast, I kissed my father and hurried to the bus stop that was on the corner of the street.
Once I arrived at the school, I immediately noticed the different buildings. I think that the school was primary and secondary combined. I asked a girl that looked friendly where I needed to go.
"Go to the furthest building from the football field. once inside, you need to go upstairs. The room you're looking for will be the first on the left.I thanked the girl and hurried in the direction she was pointing at. It took me about five minutes to walk to my class. I introduced myself to the teacher and took a seat in the back row.
"Hi, there." said the boy sitting next to me.
He had a warm smile and gorgeous brown hair. My stomach somewhat sank... I was a little nervous.
"Hi." I replied.
"You must be new here. I'm Gabriel." the boy said as he extended a hand out in my direction.
I took his hand and shook it very slowly.
"I'm Melissa. My Dad is in the military, so I just move from place to place. I'm actually a grade behind because of it." I confided in him.
"That's pretty cool. A military brat." he said, still smiling.
"Yeah, you could say that." I said, smiling too.
The bell rang to signal the start of class and I quickly took out a notebook and multiple pens; each wrote a different color. The teacher cleared his throat and began to speak a which point, I listened.
"OK, class, today we have a new student. Her name is Melissa Ryan and she is a transfer from Howard High in California. Melissa, please stand up and tell the class about yourself."
I stood up cleared my throat, as well. I glanced at Gabriel.
" My name is Melissa an my dad is in the military so I move around a lot. I've never stayed in a single school for more than two years. The last place I lived was California. I didn't want to leave the beach, but it wasn't my decision weather we stayed or left. And now here I am."
