Summary: Remus gets allergies and keeps trying to persuade Y/n and the rest of the marauders that he is fine.
Y/n's POV:
"Achooo"
You jumped as your boyfriend sneezed for what felt like the millionth time this morning. It was only breakfast and Remus had already gone through a whole box of tissues. It was that time of the year when the pollen count was incredibly high and poor Remus' nose was blowing up.
"You know, you should just go to madame Pomfrey, she'll give you something for your awful allergies," Peter's attempt to get Remus some help was only responded with a loud sneeze, startling the first years who seemed to be making an important decision: waffles or pancakes?
"I don't need anything! I'm perfectly fine."
All the Marauders sighed, every year Remus' allergies would act up and every year he would deny any help. This year however, they had Y/n. You were determined to get him some kind of help so you and your friends could get a full sentence out without sneezes in between each word.
Of course, being friends with the marauders meant you knew a great deal about being discreet and making sure you wouldn't be found out and that would definitely help help you however this time, you weren't running from Professor McGonagall, or lying to Professor Slughorn, you were lying to your boyfriend.
Firstly, you would have to find the antidote to help Remus stop his sneezing and coughing, you had already done that however it was only on paper, you had to make the potion. That would include using the help from James and Sirius to "borrow" the ingredients and the help from Lily to cook the potion, if you tried yourself, it would end up being you who would need the medical help.
After persuading Lily to help you (with many promises to attempt to stop James from following her aroundand asking her out at every possible chance), you made your way to the dungeons, planning your way to distract the current potions professor.
Sending Filch's cat into his office may have been a slight overreaction however it did the job and despite the cat leaving the portraits needing stitches and the unmarked papers no longer paper, it meant the teens could get their frogs eyeballs and pine stems without any complications.
The second part was easy. That was only in your opinion though. Your terrible potions skills did you no good as Lily eventually sent you outside to wait, your presence only being a distraction. Once you were allowed inside again, it was the hardest step which was to come, making sure the potion made its way into Remus' system, without him noticing.
Lunch couldn't have come sooner. You and the boys anxiously waited for Remus and Peter to join you, Sirius ready to make sure to turn Remus' head as you poured the honey-like liquid into his drink.
And you had managed to do exactly that, Remus sat down and now for the final part: to get him to drink.
All eyes were on him as he held the cup to his lips, it was like in those movies when the people just kept avoiding the drink. You were all watching and staring until Remus finally brought the cup to his lips and chugged down the liquid, his expression changing into a confused one as he finished off the drink,
"Woah, that tasted weird."
You looked around awkwardly, not being very subtle as you made eye contact with the rest of the marauders,
"Maybe it was flavoured today?"
James' suggestion made Remus look directly at you, almost reading your mind as he fit the pieces together,
"wait, what did you put in this?"
The ceiling seemed to be really interesting at this time of day, you, Peter, James and Sirius stared up at the clouds that formed above.
"I told you I was fine!" At that, he got up and walked out of the Great Hall, leaving you and the boys no longer staring at the ceiling but at the floor. Eventually, you stood and followed him out of the hall, picking up your face to catch up with your boyfriend.
"Remus! Please, wait!!"
You slowed down as you reached him, grabbing him by the shoulder and turning him to face you. You noticed he no longer had a red, runny nose and the fact that he didn't sneeze for the whole minute you observed him made you smile gently as you caressed his cheek,
"Look, I'm sorry, I just wanted to say I love you without you sneezing in between each word,"
His eyes met your as confusion and questioning filled his face,
"You love me?"
Giggling, you answered, "Of course I do, why wouldn't I?"
You leant in and kissed him softly, pulling him closer into you as he deepened the kiss. Until,
"Achooo!"
You started laughing hysterically as he broke the kiss,
"I guess the potion wasn't as good as I thought it would be."
