A/N: This is another assignment from my Brit Lit class; I wanted to do one about another fanfiction I had--a BTS one. The story was based off their song "Magic Shop" and the Wings album where my main character somehow travels into this dream dimension called Suranim where she meets seven different characters; a shopkeeper, a prince, a chandelier maker, a lost boy, etc. Anyway, her guide there is a street cat named Ikuyo who manages to follow her into Suranim and begins to talk to her. I tilted the poem Murakami's cat because Ikuyo was based off of all the weird cats in his stories--mostly Kafka on the Shore.

Open your eyes, child, and look upon me

Down where I lay right by your human feet.

My! You've been stricken by shock, I can tell.

One does not meet talking cats such as me

As often as I would prefer these days--

It would make my kind of business easy.

My business? Well, you see, the boundary

Between you and I--a thin little line.

All one must do is board the midnight train--

Just as you did, quite gracefully, I add.

I never knew your kind snore so loudly.

Let me tell you where exactly you are:

Where the dawn meets the dusk is Suranim,

And as your guide, I am Sim Sala Bim--

Yet you laugh! Quick, do not look beside you!

Here the souls do not play kindly--don't look!

If you wish for my assistance then listen,

Curiosity did not kill the cat,

Why--everyone knows that we have nine lives.

Tell me, how many do you humans have?
