A fleet of Space Marines known as The Black Shield Chapter is currently stationed above a planet they had colonized around forty to fifty years ago. They are the Successor Chapter of the Second Primmarch known as Alexzander the Great and his Steel Curtain Legion. Primmarch Alexzander is a revered strategist, technician, and powerful warrior of the Imperium he once served. After the Rangdan Xenocide, his entire Legion was presumed dead as his Flagship the Unbreakable was dragged into the Warp as it's engine's were damaged and unable to move, by one of the Rangdan's ships as two of Alexzander's ships followed leaving the rest to tell the Emperor what had happened to their Primarch as the remaining Space Marines were integrated into the Ultramarines as one hundred of the Space Marine's left the Imperium to search for their lost Primarch. Thus the story was told to the Emperor that the Primarch fought hard and with honor for his father before he supposes death as a new Chapter was created in remembrance but chose to erase the Primarch's name and Legion as he feared the worse that one of his own son's was corrupted by the Warp and the Forces of Chaos as he thought his sons would never fall to Chaos and betray him. Then the Horus Heresy had begun as half of the Emperor's son's turned against him for the Forces of Chaos thus a nine-year war raged through the galaxy which ended in the death of Horus and a gravely wounded father whom now sits on the Golden Throne of the Imperium of Mankind. Since then many battles and wars raged as the galaxy is in a stalemate, it's now nearly the end of the 41M and in the darkness, a new hope arises to bringing new light to emerge for in the grim darkness of the far future. There is only war.

The Black Sheilds Space Marine Chapter is currently guarding a planet rich in a unique type of metal capable of blocking the effects of traveling through the Warp. With this metal, the ships and crew would be safe from the taint of Chaos when traveling through their only means of FTL (Fast Then Light) travel. The metal is tough enough to take on many attacks as well as it being used for ships, vehicles, infantry, and many other uses of this metal known as Shiulium. This metal is only found on the planet Ethillium a Gaia Fortress class world protected by three Chapters, The Black Shields, The Golden Barrier, and The Obsidian Mirror, and three regiments of Imperial Guardsmen of twenty-five thousands [25,000] each were chosen to protect this rich and strategic world in for the aid of the Imperium of Man. The world of Ethillium was colonized some fifteen-hundred years ago in the 41M [M= Millennium]. The Black Shields stumbled upon this planet during a battle with the Necrons and Chaos noticing that this metal has a strange effect that causes the Forces of Chaos to be cut off from the Warp but only temporary and doesn't affect the Chaos Primarch's or other powerful daemon hood spawns such as Daemon Sorcereries, Daemon Prince and the Chaos Champions picked by their respected Daemon Gods but the main importance of this metal is that it can reply the ether corruption given off by the Warp allowing them to traverse the Warp with relative safety unless the hull is penetrated by some external force. Though this planet is a key asset the Black Shields haven't been able to communicate with the Imperium of Man or Terra and are alone out here with a distent force granted to them but with enemies on all sides and wars raging throughout the galaxy no one knows when the next battle will be...

"Chapter Master I'm getting multiple energy signals and their not normal... They are coming from our "9" and "3" o'clock sir." A pilot said as he monitored the sensor array.

"Open the viewing hatch. Let's see what we're dealing with." The Chapter Master of the Black Shields Osmond Trinity said as the shutters to the viewing window move apart from each other as the Chapter Master was greeted with the nothingness of space.

The multiple signals increased as the energy was coming from different locations further ahead of the Chapter Master's ship as multiple ring-like portals began opening up as fourteen strange ships emerged from the portals as a much larger ship exited from the largest of the blue portals. It looked like it had sustained damage as the bridge of the larger ship seemed destroyed. Then seemingly out of nowhere more ships of a different design emerged across from the first group as their ships suffered some damage too. The onlookers of the Battle Barge were all dumbed founded as they had never seen such means of transportation. The three battle groups stayed motionless as they all tried to understand the situation they now find themselves in as the two unknown ships were damaged but still in working order to an extent.
