I take a deep breath and knock on my sister's door. I haven't seen her in seven years, for good reason too. She left home seven years ago to go pursue her business degree, which I hear worked out great for her. I am now twenty-five years old. Gosh Twenty five... five years till thirty. Oh joy. Anyway, five years ago, everything happened...he happened. I've been a recovering mess the past five years. It was best for me to stay away from everyone until I got my life handled and in order. With the help of my parents, my five-year old daughter and I are finally stable and living the life we deserve. My older sister has been doing well, or so I've heard from my parents. She's married now, has an amazing job, and by the looks of it, an amazing house. I've spent my entire life envying my sister and her life now was just another thing to add to the list of things to be jealous of. This lunch is going to be such a blast...not. My daughter's small hand clutches mine tightly as we wait for my dear, older, sister to open the door to her magnificent house. Within a second, the door is flung open and I'm met with my sister's thin arms warped around me and her squealing in my ear. I put a smile on my face and release my daughter's hand for a moment to return my sister's hug. Her light blonde blonde hair is curled neatly, her nails polished ballerina pink, and her lips are colored a dark red. I've always envied my sister's un-simplistic beauty. My dull blue eyes are nothing compared to her shiny icy blue ones. And my straight blonde hair is not even half as voluminous as her golden locks. Ugh, why did I come to this lunch?
" Oh. my. God. Aria... I can't believe it's you! I can't believe it's been seven years."
My sister cries and hugs me tighter. I feel a bit of emotion tug at my heart, but I don't let it take me far. The last time I let emotion take me anywhere it led me to...him. Which is exactly why I'll suppress it as much as possible.
" And this must be little Clara."
My sister says and kneels down to look my daughter straight in her bright green eyes that he gave her. My sister introduces herself to Clara while I smile adoringly at my little girl.
" Well come in, come in, both of you!"
My sister says and leads us inside of her gorgeous home. It was the kind of home you see in magazines where everything seems to have its place.
" This is beautiful, Angelina."
I tell my sister. She thanks me and blushes before she turns her attention to calling for her husband. Who, much like the house, is probably perfect.
" Honey! My sister is here! Come down already!"
My sister calls, her voice echoing through the large home.
" Coming!"
A deep voice calls from above and I feel chills run down my spine. That voice, it sounds just like...
Footsteps begin to tread down the staircase and then I see...him. My downfall, my love, my world, it was him, really him. And he was married to my sister. I just about fainted at the revelation. It was bad enough that he was married...but to my sister? Oh god. He looks different. Really different. His once long, wild, hair now cut cleanly into a textured crew cut. His leather jacket, skinny jeans with holes in them, and biker boots now replaced with an expensive looking sports coat, dress pants, and shiny balck leather dress shoes. Those eyes though. I'd recognize those eyes anywhere. He stops halfway down the staircase and gazes down at me. His bright green eyes widening, his beautiful skin turning white.
" This is my husband, Daniel."
Daniel? Seriously? Last time I checked his name was Henry... Henry Nash.
