EQUALITY

I am Megha rajnanda i was born with a twin brother Mohan rajnanda. I have always known twins means whatever u get it's always the same. But little did i knew that the world is going to show me the truth.

I have always been told that i have been trained. So i asked her once training for what? She answered i am preparing you for you in laws. I always wondered why always me.

Once I and Mohan went to shopping with mother. She told Mohan to take whatever he liked and told me that i also could go and see around .

Mohan went and brought Yellow t-shirt and black jeans and i got a blue crop top and black skirt. She gave an angry look and told me to keep that right away and said i am not allowed to wear these kind of clothes. I asked her why? She replied i am protecting you from society.

As we grew Mohan was allowed to make friends and hang out with them. And I had restrictions for everything. Mohan used to hangout with his friends till 12 in the night and i was not allowed to go at grocery shop after 7 in the evening.

I passed almost with the best marks and in return i just got an appreciation but mohan just passed and he was awarded by a bike. Mohan was allowed to do job but i was not allowed. My parents told me as it is you have to go to your in-laws.

I got so furious that i asked angrily that what is wrong with you all? Why are you so unbiased. You never treated us equally. Why i have to adjust for everything? Why i have to sacrifice for Mohan and what training and what are u preparing me for?

You need to train your son. The way you get angry even when i talk to some guy friend. Why don't you shout Mohan for having a girlfriend. Why when it comes to Mohan you are so cool with everything.

You need to treat us equal or else i will leave the house right now. My parents after a long pause spoke you want to know the reason why. The reason is if we don't prepare or train you now then when you will get married your in-laws will blame us. If we let you stay outside, society will speak all ill things that you might not even want to hear. If you have a boyfriend people will think that you will often end up being used or being pregnant. If you work then society will doubt your work by saying god knows what you do in the office.

I told them then why you want me to live when you have every reason to kill me. I am really feeling suffocated and i might not continue my life. I told them why don't you tell your boy to stay home then girls are safer to roam in night. Why don't you stop your boy from making a girlfriend so that the girl doesn't becomes pregnant and neither society would speak ill about her.

Everything needs to be balanced equally only then the environment would be good. You cannot put all the barriers and burdens on the girls. It's high time you should understand about the equality. With this I conclude my story because my parents were unable to process these things in one day. But I will change their thoughts and I am very sure of that. I will make a difference one day.

---------------------------------------------------------

Would you make the difference in your house? Would you try to change your parents thoughts on the topic of equality? Would you take this 1 step?

Do comment and tell me what are your thoughts really would love to know!
