Harriet Jamie Potter was a short girl, with long curly black hair which shone blue when the light touched it. Her emerald eyes were hidden by her big round glasses which had been broken so many times but were taped up. Her parents had died when she was only one and was left with her mother's sister. The Dursleys were a horrible bunch, her aunt Petunia was a blonde horse, her husband resembled a walrus with ginger hair and their little bundle of joy, it should really be their big bundle of fat, Dudley was now a massive pig or a little walrus. Harrie herself couldn't decide.

She was known as a trouble maker, her aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon made sure everyone knew what a good for nothing child she was. The truth was Harrie didn't do much else than clean, cook and garden. Many knew her for her gardening skills as she would be leant out for other people. Her life has been miserable from the moment she could remember but she could be grateful not to end up at an orphanage like the many threats she has gotten over the years. She had heard horror stories about the orphanage.

Many strange things have happened to Harrie such as turning her teacher's wig blue or appearing onto the roof in a game of Harrie hunting.

The one place she found solstice is in the library reading many books. Books about magical lands, adventures and the time of old. Now she knew she wasn't brave enough to do these things herself but she could imagine being there and living a simple life. She had read the children's section by the time she turned eight so she started reading the classics of the adult section and any new books written.

Now, many thought Harrie as dumb whereas she knew she couldn't be better than Dudley, therefore, made sure she didn't get many correct. She would be too nervous now to try hard, also her writing was terrible. Her hands ached all the time so writing was agony. Harrie had no idea what was going to happen when she moved to secondary. She was sure she would be able to blend into the background.

Then the letter appeared. She quickly pushed it into her cupboard to read tonight as she gave the post to her uncle one morning. Her day was normal after that, her aunt decided to lend her out for gardening so by the time she was back that night, she was sunburnt and her hands felt like they were on fire. After getting her glass of water and stale bread, she was locked into her cupboard. Turning the light bulb on she started to read.

Dear Miss H, J Potter

We are pleased to invite you to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

We expect your letter no later than July 31st

This could have been a joke by one of Dudley's gang members. Though she quickly wrote a reply confirming and seeing if she spotted an owl tomorrow as none of his friends knew her middle name. Dudley the little pig didn't.

With the thought of an escape, she quickly fell asleep.
