The music was getting louder and I could see everyone dancing and eating.
Bailey got an offer from a guy to dance with him and she agreed. Anna and I were hooting at her as she was dancing at the center with him.
The venue was perfectly decorated with black, golden and white. There were waiters dressed in black with a plain black mask , photographers capturing everyone and people laughing around.

Soon two hosts, a male and a female took it to the floor , they weren't wearing masks yet they both looked charismatic, the female host was in a red glittered slit gown and the male host was in a shiny blue suit .
As soon as they started speaking the music toned down. " Hello and welcome to the masquerade get together night, I hope you all have been enjoying "
The crowd hooted to show their approval
" Woaahhhh!! Dancing alone or with your known once can be boring, so let's light things up " The host said and the thrilled audience shouted yesss at the top of their lungs, " Well well well we've got something for you, you'll get a chit and you've to match your number, same color chits have the high probability of having the same number" , the audience roared in excitement.
The host continued after a beat, " You all can pick the chits up from the bowl at the table nearest to you, girls from tables at the left of me and boys from the table towards my right, no ifs and buts each one of you've to do it, let's not spoil the game of destiny " , he said with a wink and the crazy crowd yelled in excitement.
Bailey, Anna and I laughed at the sight of everyone's excitement and went near the table to pick up the chits that was in a transparent bowl. Turn by turn every one picked up the chits and the lights turned off after exact 5 minutes , only the lights from the fairy lights and a few yellow and red bulbs brightened up the place for us to see each other.
This place was looking amazing in fact more better than when lights were on, I thought looking around. Bailey found the same guy she have had a dance with, she was happy and their chemistry could be seen even when lights were off.
I was so much engaged in my own thoughts that I didn't take a look at my chit until a guy patted me from behind.
"Blue? " He inquired.
He was approx 6ft tall , slim and was wearing a white suit and a golden mask.
"Yes, number 37" , I said opening the four fold chit.
" Number 6" , he said and I gave him a smile . I left him there and moved forward in search of my partner.
There was a huge crowd and on top of that walking in stiletto is painful.
I stopped and took few steps back until I bumped on someone , I apologized but the music was too loud for my voice to be audible to him , I guess he knew I was apologizing since he gestured an okay from his hand and apologized back.
I noticed a blue card chit in his hand and showed him mine same colored chit, I didn't speak because the music was loud.
He opened his chit and showed me number-37, same as mine, smilingly I gave him my chit to see that he was my match and tonight's partner.
He was taller maybe 5'7 or 5'9 , muscular and was wearing a black suit with white shirt inside, his mask was black in color that matched his outfit perfectly. I must admit he was looking jaw dropping, even with a 4 inch stiletto heels I was reaching only up to his lips.
We exchanged a handshake and smiled.
I got a strong feeling that he wasn't comfortable with me, maybe his choice was someone else with whom he wanted to dance.
" Hey, if you wa-ant " , I said and paused when I realized that the music was loud enough to suppress my voice.
I moved a bit closer to his ears and continued, " If you aren't comfortable and want to dance with someone else, you can tell me, I'll exchange my chit with her " , I completed with a broad smile.
He was shocked, he studied me for about a minute and said, " No, it's okay ".
Was I too direct and created an awkward situation for him ? , looking at him from the corner of my eyes I thought.
The two hosts took the floor again " Time's up, We hope you all got your partner ", they said with a glee .
The crowd hooted a yes, I could see Anna and Bailey with their partners, they all seemed comfortable unlike us.
Maybe it's not him, it's me . I took a deep breathe and picked up a coke from the waiter who just offered it to me .
"Now the time is for a thrill ", the male host said and asked all staffs to put aside any chair that may hinder the couples path.
" The first game is paper dance, all the couples are requested to open the folds of the paper they're given and stand on it." After the audience whistled and howled he continued , " You all have to dance on the paper as soon as the music begins ."
Soon after the music began everyone started swaying, my partner wasn't even moving. I wondered what was wrong with him.
The music stopped after every 3 minutes and the paper was folded. Now dancing together wasn't possible. I had to step up on him. I looked towards him for his permission but didn't find any response, so I stood on my toes and balanced myself, something I've learnt back in school. I saw Anna tripping off the paper, now only five couples were left. The music stopped and the paper was folded again, I stood on it and fell forward with my left hand on his chest ,his heart was beating faster, his one hand was around my waist and the other holding my other hand . I could see his eyes looking directly into mine for a minute everything stopped I could feel his warmth. He was looking directly into my eyes , I couldn't take my eyes away either he had something in his eyes. Somebody captured us and the sound of camera flash brought us back to senses. He pushed me away and I apologized to everyone at once. " Love is in the air ", the host commented to which I smiled, I could still feel his gaze on me. The game continued until a couple won it, Bailey was the second runner up. I made my way to her and congratulated her for winning. " I saw you both, you guys have got a fiery chemistry ", Bailey said. I looked over my shoulder and saw my him drinking a scotch. I shrugged my shoulder and went back to him. " I'm sorry, I got disbalanced ", I apologized. " It's alright ", he said and took another sip of his drink.
" The next round is the balloon balancing round " The female host announced and I saw him feeling hesitant . " If you want we can back off from this " , I said while the host was still speaking. He ignored me and turned away towards place from where the hooting was louder. I felt a bit dizzy and sat down on the chair beside him, a hectic day was the reason for sure, I assured myself.
