Absolutely, the last time.
Studying her reflection in the mirror, she assessed her outfit one final time. She had chosen comfortable attire - jeans, a black shirt concealed by a denim jacket, and white sneakers - a look she felt content with.
"Here goes nothing," she whispered to herself before shutting the door behind her, stepping out of her apartment.
Wearing her customary disguise, she didn't reveal her true destination to her manager, turning off her GPS to keep her intentions private.
Her gaze remained fixed on her phone screen as she read Heechul oppa's message, which contained an address. With a deep breath, she set out on her journey.
It had been a week since their heated exchange in the meeting room. Now, at 9 in the evening, she was fulfilling Heechul oppa's request to talk to Byun Baekhyun for the final time.
She had no clear plan on how this conversation would unfold, but she was eager to bring an end to the negativity surrounding their interactions. All she wanted was peace.
The hour-long drive didn't prove too tedious, even though the landscape mostly consisted of trees. Her thoughts wandered as she navigated the unfamiliar route, her focus solely on reaching the destination.
Eventually, she spotted a small illuminated house, its lone lamppost casting a feeble glow. Parked adjacent to it was Baekhyun's car, confirming her arrival at the correct place.
Pulling her vehicle beside his, she stepped out and studied the house, her eyes narrowing as she observed it. Startled, she saw the door ajar, but composed herself upon spotting Baekhyun emerging from within.
"Come in," he gestured courteously, a gesture that struck her as strange. Despite her surprise, she maintained her usual expression, ignoring the fact that his demeanor appeared gentlemanly despite his recent rudeness.
Entering the house, she took in her surroundings, noting the essentials: a bed, lounge, kitchen, dining table, and bathroom. She was particularly drawn to the table, where her favorite foods were laid out. She shot him a quizzical look, seeking an explanation.
He led her to the dining area, holding out her chair in an almost chivalrous manner. While others might have found this behavior endearing, she remained skeptical. She was Taeyeon and he was Baekhyun after all.
"Let's eat," he declared as he took his seat opposite her. He efficiently cut his steak into pieces, a focused look on his face.
She studied the spread, a mix of emotions churning within her. Her attention shifted to him when he motioned for her to sit. "What's the purpose of this meeting?" she inquired.
"Eating?" he suggested with feigned innocence. "Feel free, there's no poison," he reassured, adding under his breath, "Just a love potion." Though muttered, his words were audible to her.
Her eyebrows furrowed in response. "What did you say?" she pressed, annoyance simmering.
He met her gaze, appearing puzzled. "I said there's no poison," he reiterated before taking a bite of steak. "Unless you believe in love potions?" he quipped, his tone testing her patience.
She halted him when he reached for her plate. "No need. I'll eat," she asserted, maintaining control over the situation.
With the hunger evident in her quick consumption, she finished her meal swiftly, her silence palpable.
"Macarons," he announced, presenting a plate of the delicate pastries. He cleared her steak plate as she selected a pink macaron, taking a bite to savor its flavor.
