Wedding Series - The proposal

"Okay what do you think? I need an honest opinion" you asked Luke spinning around to show the dress from all sides.You were wearing a red knee length dress with your black high heels.You kept it simple by straightening your hair and applying a touch of makeup.This night was very important to you since Luke was taking you to meet his family for the first time at one of their gatherings. "Y/N..For the millionth time, you look beautiful..We're going to be late" he said putting his jacket on and grabbing yours from the closet. "But I feel it's too short..is it showing too much of this?" you ask again pointing at your breast area. "I don't want to give your parents the wrong impression you know"."No babe.. not at all...You look amazing..Can we please go now??If you keep up with this we'll be there by breakfast " he said handing you the jacket before kissing your cheek. "Come on" he said grabbing your shoulders and pushing you towards the door. "But-"you whine."No buts...we're leaving" he cuts you off dragging you out of the room.

During the car ride, silence took over. You sat there and kept biting your nails, something you'd always do when you get nervous. It was a bad habit but you couldn't contain yourself.You and Luke take a glance at each other and then he looked back at the road before letting out a little laugh. "What are you laughing at?" you said, gently punching Luke's arm. "Babe don't be nervous..They don't bite I swear...You're amazing and they'll love you...I mean what's not to love" he assures you, grabbing your hand and planting a soft kiss on it while he's still looking at the road.

Minutes later, you arrive at his parents house. You can hear the music and people chatters bursting out of the place. "Ready?" Luke asked giving you a warm smile. "Yeah..lets do this" you said with a confident tone, taking a deep breath. You fix your hair using the overhead mirror while Luke rushes around the car to open your door. "My lady" luke offers his arm and you gladly clutch to him. You walk to the front door and wait patiently after ringing the bell. "Coming..Just a sec" you heard a voice across the door. Luke flashes you a wide smile and sends a wink at your direction before the door opens. "Heeeyyy...You're finally here..Come on in" Luke's mum greeted you both, giving Luke a tight hug. "Mum, this is Y/N..Y/N, my mum" he said with a wide smile. "Ofcourse..It's nice to finally meet you sweetheart" his mum said sweetly giving you a hug as well. "It's nice to meet you too..Luke has been telling me great things about you".

You both enter into the house and are guided to the living room where the whole family is gathered. Luke indroduced you to every person you both bump into.

"and Y/N this is my brother Jack" luke said. "Nice to meet you...wait..Y/N..the girl you've spent everyday of that summer writing all those poems for" his brother teased. "What??!! No" luke said giving his brother a death look while you started laughing. "Aww you wrote me poems??!! When will I get to read them?" you said still laughing. "How about never" luke responded."There was one about your eyes...one about your smile..oh and the one about your hair...That's my favourite" jack kept teasing, making you laugh harder. "Thanks for bringing that up mate" luke said giving jack a pat on the shoulder. "No problem little brother".

After a while, you head towards the kitchen while luke talks to some of his cousins. "Do you need help with anything?" you asked luke's mum. "Well if you can chop these for me, that would be great" she said handing you a bowl of vegetables. "So Luke told me you're graduating soon". "yeah..this is my last semester..I'll graduate in june"you said as you start chopping the carrot into small cubes. "That's great.This way you'll have enough time for planning-" she stops talking. "Planning what??!!!" you asked suspiciously. "Aaaaah.......I mean planning what you're going to do after graduation...looking for job vacancies and stuff" she answered with a nervous tone. "Right" you said still not buying it.

After a few hours, the whole family gathered around the table. Everyone was laughing, talking, and enjoying the food. You looked at the people surrounding the table with a wide smile. You've never had this before...You had no siblings and your parents were constantly working...They never assigned any time in their busy schedules to attend school plays you took part in or any other events.You always ate dinners alone..You longed for having a close relationship with them as you were growing up but they weren't around much. All these thoughts were interrupted when Luke places his hand on yours. "You okay?" he questioned with his beautiful smile. You simply nod and continue eating.

After dinner, they shifted to the living room where most of the bantering took place. You were sitting next to Luke who had his arm around your shoulder. You were laughing so hard at the endless jokes. You felt Luke's eyes fixed on you the whole time so you take a glance at him and a wide smile formed on his face. You stare into each other's eyes for what seemed like forever. His stunning blue eyes..you forgot everything at that moment like you were the only people in the room...through his eyes you knew he's the only one you need...your other half...No matter how many times he looked at you that way, it had the same effect; sweaty and shaky hands, warm feeling in your heart and butterflies in your stomach.He then leaned his head next to your ears and whispered "I love you". "Well guess what? I love you too" you whisper back, making him smirk while looking down at your lips.

Hey love birds...drinks?" Liz asked with a laugh, interrupting your flirting session. You shook your head as your face turned extremely red. "You know we've been waiting all night for a kiss...come on... show us the love" someone yells from across the room. You hide your face in your hands, embarrassed by their comments. Suddenly, everyone starts to chant "Kiss..kiss..kiss...". You face Luke and give him a quick peck on his lips. "Oh You call that thing a kiss...you should kiss him like there is no tomorrow...kiss him like the future of humanity depends on it" Luke's grandma yells. "Come on Y/N, the future of humanity lies in our hands...We better make this a good one" Luke said sarcastically. "Fine" you said before grabbing him by his shirt and joining your lips together. You wrap your arms around his neck while he places his arms around your waist.You pull his face closer deepening the kiss with all passion and lust, your mouth molding perfectly with his. You break the kiss, both breathless when you hear cheers and whistles from people surrounding you. "This is so embarrassing" you mumble, burying your face against his chest while Luke starts laughing.

Around midnight, you say your goodbyes and thank the family for an amazing night.

"Sorry about that" Luke said as you walk outside. "Why are you apologizing??!! I had the best time of my life..you have a wonderful family Luke" you said grabbing his hand. Luke then stops moving and pulls you into his chest leaving almost no space between both of you. "Y/N I need to tell you something" he let go of your hand and takes a step backward before taking a deep breath. "Okay this will probably not make any sense to you so you'll have to bear with me for a minute...Remember the day we met...It was year 10...The moment I saw you walk through that classroom door, I madly fell in love with you...I was lovestruck...and from that day we've created great memories together and I want to continue creating new memories with you for the rest of my life..Yeah We've been through a lot but you were always there next to me through thick and thin. You manage easily to put a smile on my face everyday no matter what I'm going through..you're beautiful and caring...you're simply every guy's dream girl...and when I'm with you I feel complete and...alive.I now feel stuff that I've never felt before............Uh what came next??!! I'm supposed to tell you about....Uhh...nevermind...". Then he goes down on one knee and places his hand into his pocket revealing a small box with a diamond ring. You stand there in complete shock, tears streaming down your face. "Y/N, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" "Luke...Lukey...Oh my God...are you seriously proposing right now? you really want to marry me?" you squeal in excitement. "Y/N shut up!!! Yes or No??" he yells. "Yes yes yes...a million yes" you jump at him and he starts spinning you around. "I love you so much" he said as he puts you down and leans forward, placing a soft kiss on your lips. "I love you too" you rest your forehead against his, tears of happiness still drifting down your face.
