(Hey guys, just wanted to tell you that I reposted last chapter but you don't need to reread it. I'll be putting in the same announcement at the end. WARNING: The chapter will probably make you cry. You have been warned.)

"This is the place." His hand trembles as we stand in front of the door. How I got him here, I have no clue, but I did. "It'll be alright. Just knock." He takes a breath and squeezes my hand. A ring later I'm biting my lip. I have no idea what caused him to run out but I hope things work out. The door opens to reveal an elderly man. He spots me first, then Luke. His jaw drops as Luke tightens his grip. "Hi, Dad."

I sit next to Luke as he tunes his guitar. He looks at me and I give him a quick nod. "This song is called Unsaid Emily. I only wish I could've sung it to you sooner." He begins to play and I can't help but sway to the music. This is the song that got me to sing, and now I'm in the presence of the woman it was written for, not just in her presence but singing it for her.

"First things first. We start the scene in reverse. All of the lines rehearsed. Disappeared from my mind." My hands squeeze the side of the counter I'm sitting on. My breath wavers as thoughts of just a few days ago clutter my head. My eyes dart up as Luke struggles to find the right cords. He needs me. "When things get loud. One of us running out. I should've turned around. But I had too much pride."

I begin to relax as it's time to sing together. "No time for goodbyes. Didn't get to apologize. Pieces of a clock that lies broken." Though I sing he doesn't join in. A chill as cold as winter brushes against my arm. His mother just shakes her head, a disappointed look on her face. We didn't come here for me to sing, he needs to be the one. But he's frozen. His fingers remain on the one cord, his thumb rubbed against the G string. He's stuck inside his head.

I press a light hand on his arm and smile as bright as I can. "All you need to do is sing. Just one line, one word at a time." He looks at me and a soft sigh lets out.

"No time for goodbyes.
Didn't get to apologize.
Pieces of a clock that lies broken."

He closes his eyes and takes off his guitar. Getting up he sings.

"If I could take us back, if I could just do that.
And write in every empty space the words I love you in replace
Then maybe time would not erase me."

The press that was on my arm disappears as his mother struggles to take a step towards him. This is the first time she's heard him sing. It must be. Because that's the exact same response I had when I heard him.

"If you could only know I'd never let you go.
And the words I most regret are the ones I never meant to leave.
Unsaid Emily"

By the time the chorus is over all of us are just a puddle of tears. So much so I take my leave. It isn't my place to stay during such an emotional moment. Not even Luke went that far. I just wanted to hear the chorus.

I release a sigh as the fresh air brushes against my face. Taking a seat on the porch I let myself rewind on all the time wasted. The time I wasted not singing, the time I wasted crying, the time I wasted relying on him, not giving back. I shudder at the thought of the argument we had only a few days prior. Everything's okay now. Right?

My eyes blink open as I hear the door shut behind me. A yawn escapes me. When had I fallen asleep? "Hi." My voice is soft as he chuckles. It feels illegal to talk any louder. "Did you guys finish up?" He nods, settling down beside me. "They want to thank you. Why did you leave?" I shrug. I have the answer but truthfully I'd rather not say it. Yet I do. "It wasn't my place. Plus it was reminding me too much of my own mother. I'm a bit jealous really, I wish I had the opportunity to tell her I love her again. Those were her last words."

"Then I think you're the lucky one." He rests his hand on top of mine. We sit in silence as the clouds pass by in the sky. It's early morning and yet it feels like the stars are dazzling for us. "What happened?" He raises his brow so I rephrase my question. "What happened that caused you to run away?" His eyes dart away from me as he peers up at the sky himself, but I just wait. "A lot," is his final answer. His hand tightens, causing my eyes to jump down from him to them. I relinquish a sigh in contempt though it doesn't go unnoticed.

"This is an interesting little relationship you and I have." He swings our hands and all I do is giggle as he places a kiss on top of mine. "It really is."

(Author: FAVORITE CHAPTER! TOP THREE! Somehow I got this posted even though I literally just started writing this chapter an hour ago. I was so out of it today, but anyways. The thing I meant to say last chapter is that the chapters moving forward won't be edited. While I'll be editing while I write it won't have the same amount of it. Grammarly started to act up on me because this thing is literally 71 pages long right now. I have a feeling we're getting closer to the end and I wanted to know if you wanted a second book? I'm not saying it's happening but I do have a general idea for one. Anyways, as always I'll get out of your hair and I hope you're enjoying the story. That you for your reads, votes, and everything you do to support me and my story. It means a lot and I'll work hard to continue it.)
