Chapter Six

"A kunoichi is not only a female warrior, but a woman who holds an immense amount of wisdom and knowledge, and whose purpose in life is to bring balance and peace.”

_______________

My nerves were no longer an issue as I slightly moved my foot across the ground, testing the stability of the earth beneath me. The main concern that flooded my thoughts at the moment was how I could shroud my chakra and keep my true identity concealed from these Hidden Leaf shinobi. Kakashi Sensei remained silent as he trotted over to a random tree, using its underbrush as a shade and pulling out his novelty book from his weapons pouch. His lazy gaze scanned each line of the current page he resided on; he kept quiet and I wasn’t sure when he wanted us to begin this spar. I watched Sasuke and Sakura from the corner of my eye, wanting to make sure that they wouldn’t catch me off guard. ‘I knew fighting Sakura would be simple; I was more worried about facing the Uchiha.’ I swiftly caught sight of the stare down occurring between Naruto and Sasuke, and I couldn’t help but smirk at the determination that brightened the blonde’s features and sparkled deep within his electric blue gaze. He was so motivated to prove himself in this fight that I couldn’t help but feel a bit of hope burn deep within me. I remained still as can be as I continued to watch my opponents for any sudden movement; my emerald gaze immediately narrowed as Sakura quickly dug her hand into her weapons pouch and threw a pair of shuriken my way. I easily stepped to the side, catching both shuriken and twirling them between my middle finger and my forefinger. A small smile pulled at my lips as I returned the heated stare Sakura shot at me. ‘It had begun.’

Naruto didn’t hesitate a moment longer as he kicked off the ground, soaring through the air towards Sasuke as he quickly weaved hand signs for his Shadow Clone technique. The Uchiha had been ready for the blonde’s attack, quickly drawing out several kunai and shuriken from his weapons pouch and throwing them at high speeds. A grimace appeared over my features as I quickly avoided more feeble attacks from Sakura; as a last effort to help my teammate, I quickly threw the shuriken I had caught earlier high into the air. My shuriken collided with the ones Sasuke had thrown, forcing them off track as they quickly became lodged into nearby trees. The Uchiha’s eyes widened as several of Naruto’s clones immediately pinned him down to the ground; the blonde stood over Sasuke and quickly ripped his weapons pouch from his thigh, discarding it off to the side. Sakura was sprinting towards me as I watched Naruto’s spar from the corner of my eye; I gasped silently as Sasuke disappeared into a cloud of smoke, replacing himself with a log as he used the infamous Substitution Jutsu. I quickly pivoted on the spot in time to block Sakura’s punch with my forearm; I was swift as I immediately crouched down and kicked the pink-haired girl off balance. She landed on her back, a slight gasp slipping through her lips and quickly followed by a slur of curses as she struggled to get back onto her feet. I felt a rush of air chill the length of my back; my body stiffened for a mere moment before I came back to my senses.

A slight panic ran throughout me as I quickly dodged Sasuke’s high kick; it amazed me how he had been able to materialize behind me so swiftly and quietly. ‘There’s definitely something special about this kid. The amount of chakra running through his veins is enough to prove that.’ A small shriek echoed throughout the training grounds, painstakingly grabbing my attention as I turned my gaze to witness Naruto’s clones pinning the poor pink-haired girl to the ground. She struggled with all her might, using the majority of her strength to push off the clone that had taken a seat right on top of her belly. “Ren, never take your eyes off your opponent. You’ll never know what can happen.” Sasuke’s warmth breath tickled the back of my neck and my body immediately stilled as I felt the sharp edge of a kunai poking my side. I closed my eyes in frustration, inhaling a deep breath at the same time in order to keep my temper under control. I didn’t understand how I could have been so stupid; my father would have been disappointed in me if he knew a member of the Uchiha Clan had gotten the best of me. I remained silent with my arms to my side; my thoughts were running rampant as I quickly tried coming up with an immediate plan of action. My mind was at a blank as Sasuke continued to hold the kunai up to my side. My eyes quickly reopened as I gazed at Naruto off in the distance, a clear frown appearing over his lips. A glint sparkled in my eye as I immediately threw every care out into the wind; I wanted to prove my worth and I wasn’t going to lose this spar.
